8. Connect the heat sink and fan assembly cable to the CPU fan connector on the system board. See
“System board components” on page 19.
For service technician only: replacing the CPU
Attention: This procedure must be performed only by trained service personnel of Lenovo. Do not open your server or
attempt any repair before reading and understanding “Read this first: safety information” on page iii and “Getting
familiar with important guidelines” on page 39.
CAUTION:
Hazardous moving parts. Keep fingers and other body parts away.
CAUTION:
The heat sinks and CPUs might be very hot. Turn off the server and wait several minutes to let the
server cool before removing the server cover.
To replace the CPU, do the following:
1. Prepare your server. See “Preparing your server and removing the server cover” on page 41.
