3. Locate an appropriate PCIe slot for the PCIe card, and remove the metal slot bracket. For detailed
information about the PCIe slots, see “System board components” on page 19.
Note: To avoid any interference during installation, ensure that the memory-slot retaining clips are
closed if you install a PCIe x16 card into PCIe slot 1.
4. Install the PCIe card into the PCIe slot, and pivot the card latch to the closed position.

5. Depending on the type of the PCIe card, you might need to connect any required cables. Refer to the
documentation that comes with the PCIe card for specific information.
To install a required device driver for the PCIe card, go to the Lenovo Support Web site at
http://
www.lenovo.com/drivers
. Download the driver for the PCIe card and the readme file, and follow the
instructions in the readme file to install the driver.
