1.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetastherststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
2.WhentheRedHatEnterpriseLinux5installationwelcomewindowopens,typelinuxddnoprobe=ata1
noprobe=ata2noprobe=ata3noprobe=ata4afterboot:,andthenpressEnter.

3.Whenadialogueboxopensaskingyouifyouhaveadriverdisk,selectYes,andthenpressEnter.
4.WhentheInsertDriverDiskdialogueboxopensnotifyingyouthatyourdriverdiskwillbeinserted,
selectOK,andthenpressEnter.
5.Whenadialogueboxopensaskingyouifmoredriverdisksareneeded,selectNo,andthenpressEnter.
6.Whenadialogueboxopensaskingyouifyouwanttochecktheharddiskdrive,dependingonyour
needs,selectOKtodothecheckandselectSkiptoskipthecheck.
7.WhentheREDHATENTERPRISELINUX5installationwindowopens,clickNext.
8.Selectthelanguagethatyouwanttouseduringtheinstallation,andthenclickNext.
9.Selecttheappropriatekeyboardforthesystem,andthenclickNext.
10.Whenawindowopenspromptingyoutotypetheinstallationnumber,typeitorclickSkip.The
installationnumberenablestheautomaticinstallationofsomesoftwareprogramssuchasthe
storageclusteringprogramsandthevirtualizationprograms.Youcanobtaintheinstallationnumber
athttp://www.redhat.com/InstNum/.Youalsocanskipthisstepandmanuallyinstallthesoftware
programslater.
11.SelectInstallRedHatEnterpriseLinuxServer,andthenclickNext.
12.Bydefault,apartitionisalreadyselectedforyoutoinstalltheoperatingsystem.Ifyouwanttomanually
createapartition,selectoneofthefollowing:
•Removeallpartitionsonselecteddrivesandcreatedefaultlayout
•RemoveLinuxpartitionsonselecteddrivesandcreatedefaultlayout
•Usefreespaceonselecteddrivesandcreatedefaultlayout
•Createcustomlayout
