1.ConnectthepreparedUSBstoragedevicetotheserver.TheUSBstoragedeviceshouldcontain
requireddevicedriversforyourservermodelandoperatingsystem.
2.Inserttheoperatingsysteminstallationdiscintotheopticaldrivethatyouhavesetastherststartup
device.Then,starttheserverfromtheopticaldrive.
3.Pressanykeyonthekeyboardassoonasthemessage“PressanykeytobootfromCD”isdisplayed.
TheWindowssetupinitializationbegins.
Note:IfyourservercongurationisonboardSATAwithoutRAID,gotostep8.
4.PressF6assoonasthemessage“PressF6ifyouneed...driver”isdisplayedatthebottomofthe
screen.
5.Whenthemessage“Setupcouldnotdeterminethe...devices”isdisplayed,pressSandfollowthe
instructionsonthescreentoinstalldevicedrivers.
6.Whenthemessage“Youhavechosen...”isdisplayed,selectLSIEmbeddedMegaRAID(Windows
2003...)andpressEnter.
7.Whenthemessage“Setupwillloadsupportforthefollowingmassstoragedevices”isdisplayed,
pressEnter.
8.Whenthewelcomewindowisdisplayed,pressEnter.Then,theWindowsLicenseAgreementis
displayed.
9.PressF8toaccepttheWindowsLicenseAgreementandcontinuewiththeinstallation.
10.Whenallharddiskdrivesavailableontheserveraredisplayed,selectadrivepartitiononwhichyou
wanttoinstalltheoperatingsystemandthenpressEnter.
11.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentomakeselectionsuntiltheinstallationprocessbegins.Then,the
drivepartition,whichyouhaveselected,willbeformattedandtheapplicableleswillbecopiedfrom
theoperatingsysteminstallationdisctothedrivepartition.Whentheprocessnishes,theserverwill
restartautomatically.
12.Aftertheserverrestarts,followtheinstructionsonthescreentosettheregionalandlanguageoptions,
enteryournameandlicensekey,anddoothercongurationstocompletetheinstallation.
13.Installotherrequireddevicedrivers.Todownloaddevicedrivers,gotohttp://www.lenovo.com/drivers
andfollowtheinstructionsontheWebpage.
