Your new safe has a 12-digit serial number that is located on the front bottom right hand
corner. Please locate this number and write it in the space below:
Now please recheck this number to ensure it has been transcribed correctly.
You will need to store this number in a secure place - not inside your safe.
Your Combination
Your new safe has had the combination pre-set at our factory. We pre-set our safe
combinations to a random set of numbers for your security. Each safe has a different number.
There are one million different combinations. The combination for your safe is
on a card included with these instructions.
Locate this card, write the number down and store it with your important papers.
For security purposes we suggest that you do not write your combination on these
instructions. Treat this number as you do a credit card or bank account pin number.

INSTRUCTIONS
Operating Instructions
Thank you for purchasing your new safe. This safe is equipped with a commercial grade
Lexam 1548 combination lock. This is a Group 2 combination lock and consequently is
more secure than the average combination lock fitted to many domestic safes.
As this is a commercial grade product, if you lose or forget your combination and do not
have your serial number, you will need to engage the services of a professional locksmith
to “crack” or open your safe. This may cause damage to the safe and make it unusable.
“Cracking” a safe is a lengthy process that takes a professional locksmith multiple hours so
is likely to be an expensive service. This is not covered by your warranty.
For this reason, it is important to read and complete the following requirements.
Important first steps
1. Check the packaging to ensure that you have all of the contents. You will have
your new safe, these instructions and a business card sized card with the combi
nation of this safe written on it and a fire/heat resistant pouch. It is important that
you have located all of these.
2. You will need to test that your safe is in working order before you start to install it.
3. The safe needs to be installed in an upright position. It will not work consistently in
stalled on its side or upside down.

Overview

This document provides instructions for the Sandleford Premium Series Combination Lock Safe.

Function Description

The Sandleford Premium Series Combination Lock Safe is a secure storage device designed to protect valuables. It features a commercial-grade Lexam 1548 combination lock, which is a Group 2 lock, offering a higher level of security compared to typical domestic safes. The safe is pre-set with a unique, random 7-digit combination at the factory, ensuring one million different possible combinations for enhanced security. It is also rated as fire-resistant for 30 minutes, providing protection against heat and fire damage. The safe is designed for permanent installation, either into concrete surfaces using masonry bolts or into timber surfaces using coach screws, to ensure maximum security.

Important Technical Specifications

  • Lock Type: Commercial grade Lexam 1548 combination lock (Group 2).
  • Security: Higher security than average domestic safes.
  • Combination: Factory pre-set, random 7-digit combination with one million possibilities.
  • Fire Resistance: Rated fire resistant for 30 minutes.
  • Installation: Designed for bolting down to concrete (using 12mm masonry bolts) or timber (using 5mm coach screws).
  • Serial Number: 12-digit serial number located on the front bottom right-hand corner.

Usage Features

  • Initial Setup:
    • Upon receiving the safe, users must verify all contents: the safe, instructions, a business card-sized card with the combination, and a fire/heat resistant pouch.
    • The safe must be tested for working order before installation.
    • It must be installed in an upright position; consistent operation is not guaranteed if installed on its side or upside down.
    • The 12-digit serial number should be located and recorded in a secure place, not inside the safe.
    • The pre-set combination, found on the included card, should be written down and stored with other important papers, not on the instructions. It should be treated with the same confidentiality as a credit card PIN.
  • Opening the Safe:
    1. Locate the combination number.
    2. Rotate the dial to the left (counter-clockwise) at least four complete revolutions to clear the dial, stopping on zero.
    3. Rotate the dial left (counter-clockwise) and pass the first combination number three times. On the fourth rotation, stop exactly on the first combination number.
    4. Rotate the dial to the right (clockwise) past the second combination number twice and stop exactly on the second combination on the third rotation.
    5. Rotate the dial to the left (counter-clockwise) and pass the third number of the combination once and stop exactly on the third number on the second rotation.
    6. Rotate the dial to the right until it stops.
    7. Turn the handle to open the safe.
    • It is recommended to practice opening and closing the safe multiple times before final installation.
  • Closing the Safe:
    1. Close the door and turn the handle to the locked position.
    2. Rotate the dial to the left (counter-clockwise) at least four revolutions to clear the dial, preparing it for the next access.
  • Fire/Heat Protection: The safe includes a fire/heat resistant pouch, specifically designed to further protect polymer banknotes from heat. While polymer banknotes have a higher ignition point than paper, they can melt and stick together in a fire. Storing them in this pouch within the safe provides additional protection.
  • Installation:
    • For Concrete Surfaces:
      1. Install the safe in a secure and sturdy location.
      2. Drill holes for 12mm masonry bolts.
      3. Insert masonry bolts through the safe's holes and into the concrete.
      4. Tighten bolts using a socket or spanner.
    • For Timber Surfaces:
      1. Install the safe in a secure and sturdy location.
      2. Pre-drill 5mm holes.
      3. Insert coach screws through the safe's holes and into the timber.
      4. Tighten coach screws using a socket or spanner.
    • All safes must be bolted down for optimal security.

Maintenance Features

  • General Cleaning: The exterior can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The inner surfaces can be cleaned with a hand vacuum. Never use liquid or sprays on either the outer or inner surfaces of the safe.
  • Lock Servicing: The Lexam 1548 lock is a robust unit with over 20 years of service history, requiring little to no servicing. There are no user-serviceable parts inside the safe or lock. In case of lock failure or damage, it must be serviced by a qualified locksmith.
  • Combination Change: The pre-set combination can only be changed by a qualified locksmith. Users should contact a local locksmith for this service. If the locksmith has questions, they can call the helpline at (03)9786 0055. This service will incur a charge. Once the combination is changed by a locksmith, the manufacturer can no longer assist with lost or forgotten combinations.
  • Forgotten/Lost Combination:
    • If the factory pre-set combination has not been changed and the user has their safe serial number, they can contact the helpline at (03)9786 0055. Three forms of identification and photo ID will be required.
    • If the serial number is unavailable, or if the combination has been changed from the factory pre-set, the user will need to engage a professional locksmith to "crack" the safe. This process is lengthy, expensive, and may result in damage to the safe, which is not covered by warranty.
  • Warranty: The warranty is void if the safe is not installed in an upright position.
  • Self-Repair: Users should never attempt to dismantle the product themselves.
