If the parking brake cannot be released
Releasing the parking brake manually
With a spare tire
Take out the parking brake release tool and the screwdriver
from the trunk. (P. 699)
Install the parking brake release
tool into the screwdriver han-
dle.
Take out the spare tire. (P. 700)
If the parking brake cannot be released even when operated, the park-
ing brake system may be malfunctioning. If this occurs, contact any
authorized Lexus dealer or repairer, or another duly qualified and
equipped professional immediately.
The procedure below can be used to release the parking brake manu-
ally. This procedure should only be used in an emergency.
Before releasing the parking brake manually
Shift the shift lever to “P”.
Turn the “ENGINE START STOP” switch OFF.
Check that the parking brake indicator is off.
Chock the tires.
