This document outlines the operating, maintenance, installation, and commissioning procedures for the DC Series Warewashing Systems, specifically the DC35 model. It serves as a comprehensive guide for users and qualified technicians to ensure proper and safe operation of the machine.
The DC35 is a warewashing machine designed for commercial use, capable of washing glasses, dishes, and other items. Its primary function is to efficiently clean and sanitize various ware, utilizing a wash cycle followed by a rinse cycle. The machine incorporates several key components to achieve this, including a wash tank, a boiler for heating rinse water, and dosing pumps for detergent and rinse aid. An optional waste pump is available for models where gravity drainage is not feasible. The machine is controlled via a power switch, a cycle switch to initiate the wash process, and a cold rinse switch for immediate cooling of items. A boiler ready lamp indicates when the machine has reached the correct temperature for operation.
Preparation: Before operating the DC35, several preparatory steps are crucial. Users must ensure the drain plug is firmly in place and filters are securely fastened. It's important to verify that the detergent (red tube) and rinse aid (clear tube) supply tubes are submerged in their respective products, indicating sufficient supply. The door must be closed before pressing the power switch, which will illuminate the green lamp. A waiting period of approximately 20 minutes is required for the machine to reach the correct washing temperature.
Operation: To begin a wash cycle, users should first remove all debris from the items to be washed before placing them into the basket. After closing the door, pressing the cycle switch will start the wash process, indicated by the cycle lamp illuminating. The cycle lamp will turn off upon completion of the wash. For immediate service of washed items, the cold rinse switch can be used to cool them down. Once the cycle is complete, the door can be opened, and the basket pulled out, allowing excess water to drain before removal.
Installation: The installation process requires careful attention to location, electrical connections, and water supply. The machine should be placed near the intended location, allowing sufficient room for hose connections. Electrical connections must align with the machine's specifications, and a qualified electrician or catering engineer is required for hardwiring or connecting to a 25amp or three-phase supply. A suitably rated mains on/off switch should be fitted nearby. For water supply, the machine connects to a mains cold water shut-off tap via a 3/4 BSP hose. If a water softener is used, an additional hose connects the machine to the softener, then to the mains water tap.
Waste Management: The DC35 supports two types of waste drainage: gravity waste and pumped waste.
Dosing Pump Priming and Adjustment: Access to the peristaltic dosing pump is gained by removing the lower front panel. It's important to ensure the detergent and rinse aid tubes do not interfere with the waste pump's cooling fan. To prime the machine with chemicals, both adjustments should be turned to maximum temporarily as the wash tank fills. Afterward, the detergent adjustment should be set to (3-5) and the rinse aid adjustment to (1-2), adjusting further based on washing results. A guideline for proper detergent dosing is 4mm to 6mm of foam visible on the wash tank water surface at the end of a cycle. Incorrect adjustment can lead to poor results or machine damage. The document emphasizes that chemical product concentration and quality can vary, necessitating adjustments to the dosing pump if suppliers or concentrations change.
Commissioning: Commissioning involves adjusting the rinse boiler temperature to 86°C (or as required) and verifying the factory-set wash tank thermostat at 55°C. Several cycles should be run to ensure proper washing, rinsing, and activation of the waste pump (if fitted) and dosing pumps. Temperatures for the rinse boiler and wash tank should be checked, and adjustments made as needed. Finally, staff should be instructed on the machine's use with the provided operator's instructions.
Routine Maintenance: Regular maintenance is vital for the longevity and efficient operation of the DC35. At the end of each session, the power switch should be turned off, but filters should not be removed at this stage. The drain plug should then be removed to empty the wash tank. If the machine has a waste pump, the power switch should be turned off, the drain plug removed, and the waste pump switch pressed and held until the wash tank is empty.
Cleaning: After draining, the wash tank, door surrounds, and hinges should be cleaned thoroughly with an "Addis" type washing-up brush. Any collected debris must be removed from the wash tank. The filter nut should be unscrewed, the filter removed, cleaned thoroughly, and then replaced, securing it with the filter nut. It is crucial to prevent debris from going down the outlet holes, as this can damage the machine.
Jet Maintenance: Rinse jets and wash jets must be regularly checked for debris or lime scale. If necessary, they should be removed by unscrewing the rinse arm nut and removing the wash arm cleaning caps. These components should be cleaned thoroughly and then reassembled.
Water Softener Regeneration: If a water softener is fitted, it should be regenerated once a week or according to its specific instructions to maintain optimal performance and prevent lime scale buildup.
Important Note: The manual explicitly states that service calls to rectify faults caused by "the lack of routine maintenance" will be charged, and the warranty may be affected. This underscores the importance of adhering to the outlined maintenance schedule.
