Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG refrigerator-freezer, providing comprehensive information on its operation, maintenance, and safety.

Function Description

The LG refrigerator-freezer is designed for domestic indoor use only, offering both refrigeration and freezing capabilities. It features a dual-compartment design with a dedicated freezer compartment and a refrigerator section, including various shelves, drawers, and specialized compartments to optimize food storage. The appliance is equipped with a Smart Diagnosis™ system (optional) that allows for remote troubleshooting by transmitting data via telephone to an LG service center, aiding in quick and efficient problem resolution. An optional Tag On function further enhances smart diagnosis and provides additional features through an NFC-enabled smartphone. The appliance also includes a high-temperature alarm to alert users to potential issues with the freezer's temperature, such as power outages or prolonged door openings.

Important Technical Specifications

The refrigerator-freezer operates within specific climate classes, which determine the ambient temperature range for optimal performance. These classes include SN (Subnormal: +10 to +32 °C), N (Normal: +16 to +32 °C), ST (Subtropical: +16 to +38 °C), and T (Tropical: +16 to +43 °C). Users should ensure their appliance's climate class matches the ambient temperature of their location. The appliance uses isobutane refrigerant (R600a), a natural gas with high environmental compatibility, but it is also combustible. The amount of refrigerant varies by model, but for every 8g of R600a refrigerant, the room must be at least 1m² in size. The maximum freezing capacity is achieved by pressing the "Express Frz." button for three seconds, which sets the freezer to the coldest condition (-23°C) for a period of 7 hours. The appliance is designed to operate on a standard independent power socket to prevent overloading and power outages.

Usage Features

The refrigerator-freezer offers several features to enhance usability and food preservation:

  • Climate Class: The appliance is designed to operate efficiently within specific ambient temperature ranges (SN, N, ST, T).
  • Identification of Parts: The manual provides a detailed diagram identifying various components such as bottle racks, removable glass shelves, folding glass shelf, custom chill regulator, fresh balancer, vegetable drawer, custom chill drawer, egg tray, ice tray, freezer tray, freezer drawer, leveling screw, door basket, water tank, drip tray, and LED lamp.
  • Max Freezing Capacity: A dedicated "Express Frz." button allows users to quickly achieve the coldest freezer temperature for optimal freezing.
  • Freezer Compartment: The freezer compartment is designed with a top drawer, ice maker kit, and middle drawer, all stackable on the wire shelf to maximize food storage capacity.
  • Fresh Converter: This compartment allows users to adjust the temperature knob to store different types of food (Meat, Fish, or Vegetables) at their optimal conditions.
  • Folding Glass Shelf: This shelf can be lifted up or folded down to create more space for taller items.
  • Fresh Balancer: A vegetable compartment with an adjustable humidity knob helps maintain the freshness of vegetables and fruits.
  • Installation: The installation process involves selecting a good location away from direct sunlight and heat sources, ensuring proper air circulation, leveling the unit, and cleaning it thoroughly before use. The appliance is intended for household and similar applications, including staff kitchen areas, shops, offices, farms, hotels, and catering establishments.
  • Starting: After plugging in, the appliance needs 1-2 hours to stabilize at normal operating temperature before filling it with fresh or frozen foods. If power plug is disconnected, allow 5 minutes before restarting.
  • Smart Diagnosis™ (Optional): This feature allows users to troubleshoot problems by transmitting data to an LG service center via telephone. It involves locking the display, opening the refrigerator door, and pressing the 'Freezer' button for 3 seconds.
  • Tag On Function (Optional): This function, utilizing NFC technology, allows users to interact with the appliance using a smartphone for smart diagnosis and other features.
  • High Temperature Alarm: The freezer is equipped with an alarm that activates if the temperature rises above a safe level, indicating potential issues like power outages or prolonged door openings.
