Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG range hood, providing essential information on its operation, maintenance, and smart functions. It also includes important safety instructions and warranty details for both USA and Canada.

The primary function of this device is to ventilate cooking fumes and odors from a cooktop area. It is designed for general ventilating use and should not be used to exhaust hazardous or explosive materials and vapors. The hood features a fan with multiple speed settings and an LED strip light to illuminate the cooking surface.

Usage Features:

The hood is controlled via an icon touch control panel.

  • Power / Delay Off Button: This button turns the hood's fan and lights on and off. The hood remembers the last fan speed and light level used. Pressing it once turns the hood on or off.
  • Delay Off Function: To activate this, press and hold the Power / Delay Off button for three seconds while the fan is on. The fan will switch to speed 1, and a 5-minute delay off timer will start. LEDs will blink slowly to indicate the remaining time until the fan and lights automatically turn off. Pressing the Power / Delay Off button again during the delay off function will turn the hood off and cancel the timer.
  • Speed Selection Buttons: There are separate buttons to increase (+) and decrease (-) the fan speed. The fan has five speed levels (1-5). Pressing the decrease button when the fan is at level 1 will turn the fan off. Pressing the increase button when the hood is off will turn the fan on at level 1.
  • Light Button: This button controls the LED strip light, which has two levels: High and Low. Pressing it once from off sets the light to High, pressing again sets it to Low, and pressing a third time turns the lights off.
  • Smart Functions (LG SmartThinQ Application): The hood can be connected to the LG SmartThinQ application via Wi-Fi, allowing users to communicate with the appliance using a smartphone. This feature enables monitoring of the hood's current status and setting various options. To connect, users need to ensure a strong Wi-Fi signal, turn off mobile data on their smartphone, and connect their smartphone to the wireless router. The Wi-Fi icon on the control panel indicates a successful connection. The appliance supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks.

Maintenance Features:

Regular maintenance is crucial for the hood's optimal performance and longevity.

  • Surface Maintenance: The exterior surfaces should be cleaned periodically with hot soapy water and a clean cotton cloth. Corrosive or abrasive detergents, steel wool, scouring pads, chlorine bleach, or citrus-based cleaners should be avoided as they can scratch and damage the surface. For heavier soil, a liquid degreaser can be used. After cleaning, a non-abrasive stainless steel polish or cleaner can be applied to buff out the stainless luster and grain, scrubbing lightly and with the grain using a clean microfiber or cotton cloth.
  • Aluminum Mesh Filters: The hood is equipped with aluminum mesh filters designed to trap grease and residue from cooking. These filters do not require regular replacement but must be kept clean. They can be removed and cleaned by hand or in a dishwasher on a low-heat setting. For heavily soiled filters, spraying with a degreasing detergent and allowing them to soak is recommended. Filters must be dried before re-installation.
  • Removing Mesh Filters: To remove a filter, push its handle toward the back of the range hood, then pivot the front of the filter down and pull it forward. Reassembly involves reversing these steps.
  • Mesh Filter Clean Reminder: After 30 hours of fan usage, the "-" button indicator will slowly blink, signaling that it's time to clean the mesh filters. To reset this reminder, hold the "-" button for three seconds while the hood is off. All LED indicators will blink twice to confirm the reset.
  • Charcoal Filter Replace Indicator (Optional): This reminder is disabled by default and is only relevant if the hood is configured for recirculation. To enable it, hold the "+" button and the Light button simultaneously for three seconds while the hood is off. All LED indicators will illuminate for three seconds to confirm activation. To disable, repeat the same process, and the LEDs will blink twice. After 120 hours of fan usage, the "+" button will slowly blink, indicating that the charcoal filters need replacement. To reset, hold the "+" button for three seconds while the hood is off, and all LED indicators will blink twice.
