  There could be several reasons for this. Ensure the equipment connected with the audio cable is set to receive the DVD audio signal output by selecting the correct input mode on the receiver. Check that the audio cables are securely connected to the jacks. Confirm that the equipment connected with the audio cable is turned on. If none of these steps work, the audio connecting cable may be damaged and need to be replaced.

  Make sure the remote control is pointed at the remote sensor on the DVD/CD Receiver and that you are within about 23 ft (7 m). Remove any obstacles between the remote control and the DVD/CD Receiver. If it still doesn't work, replace the batteries in the remote control with new ones.

If a menu is on the TV screen, press the SETUP button to turn it off. If the Rating level is set, cancel the Rating function or change the rating level.
