Do you have a question about the LG LPC-M130 and is the answer not in the manual?
This document serves as the owner's manual for the LG Portable CD Cassette Recorder, models LPC-M130 and LPC-M130X. It provides essential information for safe operation, setup, and use of the device's various functions, including CD playback, cassette recording and playback, and radio tuning.
Before operating the unit, it is crucial to read and understand the safety precautions outlined in the manual. The device carries a risk of electric shock, indicated by the lightning flash symbol, and should not be opened by unauthorized personnel. Servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel only. The exclamation point symbol highlights important operating and maintenance instructions. To prevent fire or electric shock, the appliance should not be exposed to rain or moisture. It should also not be exposed to dripping or splashing liquids, and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, should be placed on it. The unit should not be installed in confined spaces like bookcases.
The device is a CLASS 1 LASER product, meaning it contains a laser component capable of emitting radiation exceeding Class 1 limits if opened or interlocks are defeated. Users are warned against invisible laser radiation when the unit is open and interlocks are defeated, and exposure to the beam should be avoided.
Proper handling and maintenance are key to the longevity and performance of the unit. When shipping the unit, it is recommended to use the original carton and packing materials for maximum protection. To keep the surface clean, avoid using volatile liquids like insecticide spray and do not leave rubber or plastic products in contact with the unit for extended periods, as they can leave marks. For cleaning the cabinet, a soft, dry cloth is sufficient; for extremely dirty surfaces, a soft cloth lightly moistened with a mild detergent solution can be used. Strong solvents like alcohol, benzine, or thinner should be avoided as they can damage the surface.
When handling discs, always hold them by the edges to prevent fingerprints on the playback side. Paper or tape should not be stuck on the disc. Fingerprints and dust can cause poor picture quality and sound distortion, so discs should be cleaned with a clean cloth, wiping from the center outwards, before playing. Strong solvents, commercially available cleaners, or anti-static sprays intended for analog records should not be used on discs. After playing, discs should be stored in their cases and kept away from direct sunlight or heat sources, such as a parked car, to prevent temperature increases that could damage them.
To prevent accidental erasure of recordings on a cassette, the tab(s) of the cassette can be removed with a small screwdriver. To record again, the hole left by the removed tab can be covered with adhesive tape.
The unit can be powered via an AC power cord or batteries. Before connecting the AC power cord, ensure that the operating voltage of the unit matches the local power supply. The AC power cord connects to the AC IN socket on the rear panel, and the other end plugs into a wall outlet. If the unit has a voltage selector, it must be set to the local power supply voltage before connecting the AC cord. For extended periods of non-use, the AC power cord should be unplugged.
For battery operation, six "C" (R14) batteries are required (not supplied). The battery cover is located on the rear panel. Batteries must be inserted with correct polarity (+ and -). To avoid damage from battery leakage, remove the batteries if the unit will not be used for a long time. Weak batteries should be replaced with new ones. When the AC power cord is connected, the batteries are not used.
The volume level is adjusted using the VOLUME CONTROL DIAL, turning it clockwise to increase and counterclockwise to decrease. A 3.5mm stereo headphone plug can be connected to the headphone jack, which automatically disconnects the speakers.
To listen to the radio, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to AM or FM. Stations are tuned using the TUNING dial. To turn off the radio, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to TAPE or CD (OFF). For FM stereo broadcasts, set the RIF/FM MODE SWITCH to ST. For mono broadcasts, set it to MONO; this reduces noise but eliminates the stereo effect. For better reception, adjust the built-in AM antenna by rotating the unit, and extend and adjust the telescopic FM antenna.
To play a cassette, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to TAPE. Open the cassette door by pressing the TAPE STOP/EJECT button, insert a cassette, and close the door. Press TAPE PLAY to begin playback. To pause playback, press TAPE PAUSE; press it again to resume. To stop playback, press TAPE STOP/EJECT. The cassette deck automatically stops at the end of the tape. To rewind or fast forward, press and hold the REWIND/FAST FORWARD button during playback, then press TAPE PLAY at the desired point.
To play a CD, set the FUNCTION SWITCH to CD. Open the disc compartment by pressing the CD DOOR OPEN button, load a disc with the printed side facing up, and close the compartment. The display will show the total number of tracks. Press CD PLAY/PAUSE to begin play, and the track number will be displayed. To pause, press CD PLAY/PAUSE; "II" will flash in the display. Press it again to resume. To stop, press CD STOP.
To skip tracks, use the CD FORWARD SKIP/SEARCH button for the next track. Pressing CD BACKWARD SKIP/SEARCH once during a track returns to its start; pressing it again skips to the previous track. To search within a track, press and hold CD SKIP/SEARCH during playback and release at the desired point.
The unit should not be tilted or moved with discs loaded to avoid damage to the discs and the unit. The playing side of the CD (without printing) should not be touched. CDs should be cleaned from the middle outward with a soft, lint-free cloth. The unit supports up to 512 music files, including folders and files, with a maximum of 255 music files per folder.
For repeat play, press the CD REPEAT button once for "REPEAT 1" (one track repeatedly) or twice for "REPEAT ALL" (all tracks repeatedly). Pressing it again cancels repeat play. The "+10" button allows skipping forward to the next 10th track during playback.
To record, wind the tape to the desired starting point. Select the function you wish to record (CD or RADIO) by setting the FUNCTION SWITCH (not TAPE). Insert a blank tape, press RECORD, and TAPE PLAY will automatically engage. Then, start playing your CD or RADIO.
For CD Synchronized Recording, load a CD and set the FUNCTION SWITCH to CD. Insert a blank tape, press RECORD, and TAPE PLAY will automatically engage. The synchronized recording will start automatically after about 7 seconds. To record from a specific track, select it using the CD SKIP/SEARCH buttons before commencing recording. If noise occurs during AM broadcast recording, reset RIF on the rear panel.
To pause recording, press TAPE PAUSE; press it again to resume. To stop recording, press TAPE STOP/EJECT. The cassette deck will automatically stop at the end of the tape.
The unit supports MP3 files, which are audio data compressed using the MPEG1 audio layer-3 file-coding scheme, identified by the ".mp3" file extension. Files without this extension cannot be read. MP3 disc compatibility is limited to specific parameters: sampling frequency of 8-48kHz, bit rate of 8-320kbps, and CD-R physical format of "ISO 9660". If MP3 files are recorded using software that does not create a FILE SYSTEM (e.g., "Direct-CD"), they may not be playable. "Easy-CD Creator" is recommended for creating ISO9660 file systems. File names should be 30 characters or less, include the ".mp3" extension (e.g., "******.MP3"), and avoid special characters like "/: *?"<>" etc.
The unit recognizes multi-session discs according to the CD-ROM type. If MP3 files are present in the first session, only those MP3 files will be played. If only MP3 files are present in the entire session, all MP3 files in that session will be played. If an Audio CD is present in the first session, only the Audio CD in that session will be played.
