This document is an owner's manual for an LG DUAL Inverter Dehumidifier, covering models MD19GQGA1 and MD16GQSA1. It provides comprehensive information on safety precautions, product features, usage instructions, maintenance, troubleshooting, and specifications.
Function Description
The LG DUAL Inverter Dehumidifier is designed to remove moisture from indoor air, helping to maintain a pleasant indoor environment. It features a DUAL Inverter compressor for efficient operation. The dehumidifier offers various operating modes to suit different needs:
- Smart Dehumidification: Maintains a user-set humidity level. The compressor stops and only the fan operates once the desired humidity is reached, restarting dehumidification if the relative humidity rises. Default wind strength is high, but can be adjusted along with the desired humidity.
- Jet Dehumidification: For quick moisture removal. This mode automatically switches to Smart Dehumidification after 60 minutes. High wind indicator lamp is lit. If humidity control or speed buttons are pressed in this mode, it switches to Smart Dehumidification.
- Silent Dehumidification: Provides quiet operation, ideal for nighttime use. Default wind strength is low, but can be adjusted along with the desired humidity.
- Spot Drying: Designed for localized drying of items like shoes or clothes in a closet. In this mode, the louver is closed, wind strength is set to high, and humidity control and wind strength adjustments are not operational. An extension hose can be connected with shoes drying or laundry drying kits for targeted drying.
- Laundry Drying: For continuous drying of laundry regardless of ambient humidity. The wind strength is set to high by default, but can be changed; desired humidity cannot be set in this mode. The louver operates up and down.
- Ionizer: Removes harmful bacteria, viruses, and other materials from the air using ionized air. This function can be used simultaneously with dehumidification and operates independently of other dehumidifier functions.
- Defrost Operation: Automatically removes frost from the heat exchanger when indoor temperatures are low. During this process, 'dF' is displayed, and the compressor stops.
- Auto Clean: Dries the inside of the dehumidifier to prevent mold and germs. Activated by pressing the operation mode button for 3 seconds during operation. The fan runs for about 5 minutes after the operation stops to remove internal moisture.
The dehumidifier also includes several convenience features:
- Off Timer: Allows users to set a specific time (1 to 8 hours in 1-hour increments) after which the dehumidifier will automatically turn off.
- Timer Function: Offers various reservation options, including power on/off, controllable via the LG ThinQ application.
- Lock Function: Prevents accidental changes to settings by locking the control panel. Activated by pressing the Ionizer button for 3 seconds.
- Continuous Drainage: Allows for continuous water drainage via an external hose, eliminating the need to manually empty the water tank.
Important Technical Specifications
The manual provides external dimensions and power specifications for two models:
- MD16GQSA1:
- Power: AC 220~240V, 50 Hz
- External Dimensions (Height x Width x Depth): 715 mm x 382 mm x 296 mm
- MD19GQGA1:
- Power: AC 220~240V, 50 Hz
- External Dimensions (Height x Width x Depth): 715 mm x 415 mm x 296 mm
The operating temperature range for the dehumidifier is 5°C to 32°C. Below 0°C, dehumidified water can freeze, preventing operation. Above 32°C, the unit may stop to prevent overheating. The dehumidifier does not have temperature control functions and will increase room temperature by approximately 2°C to 3°C during operation due to heat generation. Dehumidification can restart after a 3-minute delay for compressor protection. Continuous operation for 24 hours or more will cause the compressor to stop for 1 hour for product protection.
Usage Features
- Display Panel: Features a start/stop button, operation mode button, Ionizer button, humidity control buttons, wind strength control button, and an Off Timer button. Indicator lamps show the selected operation mode, Wi-Fi status, timer status, and bucket full status. The display shows current humidity, set humidity, or Off Timer time.
- Humidity Control: Adjustable from 30% to 70% in 5% increments.
- Wind Strength Control: Can be set to low or high wind.
- Water Tank: Stores dehumidified water. The unit automatically stops operation, lights the "bucket full" lamp, and sounds a warning buzzer when the tank is full. The fan continues to operate for 5 minutes to remove remaining condensed water before stopping completely.
- Extension Hose and Drying Kits: For Spot Drying, an extension hose can be connected to the back of the product, and then shoes drying or laundry drying kits can be attached.
- LG ThinQ Application: Enables smart functions such as remote control, timer settings, and Smart Diagnosis via a smartphone. The app requires a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Maintenance Features
- Exterior and Inlet Cleaning: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid spraying water directly on the unit or using strong detergents, wax, or thinner. Dust can be removed with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush.
- Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank should be periodically cleaned (about once a week). To empty, pull out the tank, open the drain lid, pour out the water, and wipe the inside. Ensure the tank is correctly inserted for operation.
- Pre-Filter Cleaning: The Pre-Filter should be cleaned approximately once a month. Push the filter to the right to remove it, then clean with a vacuum cleaner or soft brush. For severe contamination, wash with neutral detergent and water (not exceeding 40°C). Completely dry the filter in the shade before reinserting.
- Storage: Before storing, pull out the power plug, completely drain and wipe the water tank, and clean the filter. Dry the unit in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight for about half a day. Store upright with a cover to prevent dust entry.
Safety Precautions
The manual emphasizes several safety warnings and cautions:
- Power Cord: Do not damage, alter, bend, twist, pull, pinch, or heat the power cord. Do not use multiple-outlet adapters. Ensure the plug is fully inserted into a secure outlet. Do not touch the plug with wet hands. Avoid placing heavy objects on the power cord.
- Product Operation: Do not disassemble, repair, or modify the product. Do not store or use flammable gases or materials near the unit. Keep air inlet and outlet free from obstructions. Do not insert fingers or objects into the air inlet or outlet. Do not use water to clean the dehumidifier.
- Installation: Place the product on a safe, hard, and stable surface. Maintain a gap of 30cm or more from walls for proper ventilation.
- General Safety: This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities unless supervised or instructed. Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
- Malfunction: If the product makes strange noises, emits smells, or smokes, unplug it immediately and contact a service center.
- Water Leakage: Ensure the water tank is correctly placed to prevent leakage. If using continuous drainage, ensure the hose is properly connected and not bent or submerged in water.
- Chemicals: Do not use the product in places where chemicals are used, as this can cause deformation and water leakage.
- Filter: Do not operate the dehumidifier without a filter.
- Moving the Unit: Turn off the dehumidifier and empty the water tank before moving it. Do not hold the extension hose when moving the unit.
Troubleshooting Tips
The manual includes a troubleshooting section to address common issues such as the product not running, low dehumidification, incorrect humidity readings, and slow laundry drying. It advises checking power connections, water tank status, selected mode, humidity settings, and obstructions. For serious issues like a hot power cord, error codes, or water overflow when the tank is full, users are instructed to contact the service center.
