Overview

This document is an owner's manual for an LG wall-mounted air conditioner, providing instructions for operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Function Description

The LG air conditioner is designed to regulate indoor air temperature and humidity, offering various modes to enhance comfort and energy efficiency. It supports Cooling operation to lower room temperature, with a range of 18°C to 32°C (64°F to 86°F). For colder environments, Heating operation is available, allowing temperature adjustments between 16°C and 30°C (60°F to 86°F). Cooling-only models do not support the heating function.

The Removing humidity (Dehumidifying operation) mode helps reduce excess moisture in the air, particularly useful in humid or rainy seasons, to prevent mold growth. In this mode, the air conditioner automatically adjusts room temperature and fan speed to maintain optimal humidity levels, and the room temperature is not displayed or adjustable by the user.

For simple air circulation without temperature change, the Airing your room (Air Circulation operation) mode is available. In this mode, the cooling lamp lights up, and the fan circulates indoor air.

The air conditioner also features Advanced Functions for quicker and more efficient temperature control. The Changing room temperature quickly (Jet Cool/Heat operation) allows for rapid cooling to 18°C (64°F) for 30 minutes or rapid heating to 30°C (86°F) for 30 minutes. This function is not available in Air Circulation, Auto, or Auto Changeover modes.

For indoor air purification, the Auto Clean operation (optional) removes moisture generated inside the indoor unit during cooling and dehumidifying operations. When the power is turned off, the fan operates for 30 minutes to clean the unit's interior. The Plasmaster Purification operation (optional) utilizes Plasmaster Ionizer technology to sterilize aerial bacteria and other harmful substances by releasing ion particles. This function can be activated independently of the air conditioner's main operation.

The Auto operation (Artificial intelligence), available for cooling-only models, automatically adjusts fan speed and temperature based on the room temperature. Users can select an operation code to indicate if the temperature is higher or lower than desired. The Auto Changeover operation automatically switches between cooling and heating modes to maintain the set temperature within a ±2°C range.

To reduce noise from outdoor units, the Silent mode decreases the sound pressure by 3dB compared to the rated sound pressure in cooling and heating modes. This mode has specific temperature ranges for operation: 18°C to 30°C (64°F to 86°F) indoors and 18°C to 43°C (64°F to 109°F) outdoors for cooling, and 16°C to 30°C (60°F to 86°F) indoors and 6°C to 24°C (43°F to 75°F) outdoors for heating. Activating Silent Mode may lead to a decrease in capacity.

The Energy Control mode helps save power by decreasing the power input in cooling mode. It offers two steps: a 25% reduction in power input (1 Step Entrance) and a 50% reduction (2 Step Entrance). This function is only available in cooling mode, and its activation may also decrease the unit's capacity.

The air conditioner also includes a Self-diagnosis function that indicates errors by blinking the indoor unit lamp in 2-second intervals, prompting users to contact a service center.

Usage Features

The air conditioner can be operated using a wireless remote control, which provides access to all functions. The remote control requires AAA (1.5 V) batteries. Users can adjust the temperature using up/down buttons, select operation modes (Cooling, Auto, Auto Changeover, Dehumidifying, Heating), and control the indoor fan speed. The Jet cooling/heating button allows for quick temperature changes. Air flow direction can be adjusted vertically or horizontally.

A Timer button allows users to set the current time and schedule the air conditioner to turn on or off automatically at a set time. The Sleep mode auto button automatically turns off the air conditioner after a set number of hours (up to 7 hours), with temperature adjustments for comfortable sleep (e.g., increasing by 1°C after 30 minutes in cooling/dehumidifying modes).

The Display screen brightness of the indoor unit can be adjusted using the remote control. In cases where the remote control is unavailable, the air conditioner can be operated using the On/Off button on the indoor unit, although the fan speed will be set to high.

The Restarting the air conditioner automatically function restores previous settings after a power failure, which is a factory default setting. This feature can be disabled or re-enabled by holding the On/Off button for 6 seconds.

To optimize energy consumption, the manual provides Tips for Saving Energy. These include avoiding excessive cooling, blocking sunlight with blinds or curtains, keeping doors and windows closed, adjusting airflow direction, speeding up the fan for quick temperature changes, regular ventilation, and cleaning the air filter every two weeks.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for optimal performance and longevity of the air conditioner. The Air filter should be cleaned every 2 weeks or more often if necessary. This involves turning off the power, unplugging the cord, opening the front cover, lifting and removing the filter, cleaning it with a vacuum cleaner or warm water (and detergent for stubborn dirt), and drying it in the shade.

The 3M Micro Protection Filter (optional) should be removed and cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, but not with water, as it can be damaged. It is suggested to change this filter every 6 months.

For general maintenance, the Indoor unit surface should be cleaned regularly with a soft, dry cloth. The condensate drain pipe should be cleaned every 4 months, and the condensate drain pan and heat exchanger thoroughly cleaned once a year. The remote control batteries should be replaced once a year. Steam can be used to clean the heat exchanger coils and panel vents, but this should be done by a technician.

For the Outdoor unit, the fan and condensate drain pan should be cleaned once a year. All fan assembly components should be firmly tightened, and electric components verified and cleaned with jets of air once a year.

For models with the Plasmaster Ionizer (optional), it should be cleaned by turning off the power, unplugging the cord, and using a dry cotton bud to remove dust.

Important safety precautions for maintenance include turning off the power and unplugging the cord before any maintenance to prevent electric shock. Water hotter than 40°C should not be used to clean filters, and volatile substances should be avoided to prevent deformation, discoloration, or damage to the product surface. Regular cleaning of the outdoor unit's heat exchanger coils is also recommended to maintain operational efficiency and prevent increased energy costs.
