OPTION 2: Filled Wood Frame
Once all boards are level and do not wobble,
pack “Pea” gravel around the outside of the
frame, and slope away from frame.
Now fi ll the inside of the frame with Pea gravel.
Use a leveling board to scrape off extra fi ll
material and to level the surface.

Nail an L-bracket on each corner of
the frame with 8d nails.
Be sure you use lumber that is treated and approved for
outdoor use. Cut outside frame to 8’ x 5’ outside dimensions:
Place the platform in the desired location and then use dirt or Pea gravel to level and stabilize the platform.
Start leveling at the highest point on the perimeter.
Square up the frame by measuring from
corner to corner. Measurement A should
equal Measurement B.

4.5 cu. ft. of
“Pea” gravel.
Lay boards fl at with widest part facing up and
ensure frame is level.
