Overview

This document provides installation, operating, and servicing instructions for the Lincat EB3FX/HC/PB water boiler and chiller. It is designed for indoor use and should be installed on a solid counter or shelf with adequate ventilation (minimum 50mm gap around the unit). The appliance must not be positioned near heat sources or cleaned with a water jet.

Function Description:

The Lincat EB3FX/HC/PB is a combined water boiler and chiller unit, designed to dispense both hot and cold potable water. It features a touchscreen display for operation and status monitoring. The unit includes a filtration system to ensure water quality, with a filter life indicator and replacement reminder.

  • Electrical Supply: Supplied with a 13 amp plug to BS1363. The appliance must be earthed.
  • Water Inlet Pressure: Between 2 and 6 bar (0.2MPa to 0.6MPa). A pressure reduction valve is required if pressure exceeds 6 bar.
  • Ambient Air Temperature Range: Minimum 16°C, maximum 32°C.
  • Maximum Relative Humidity: 70%.
  • Refrigerant: Contains R134a under pressure. Maintenance of the refrigeration unit must be carried out by an accredited service provider or qualified refrigeration engineer.

Usage Features:

  • First Use: After connecting to electricity, allow 30 minutes for the boiler to fill and heat/cool. There is a 2-minute delay for the chiller to activate after power interruption. The unit displays 'Wait' during this process and 'Ready' when water can be dispensed.
  • Touchscreen Display: The unit features a touchscreen for control and monitoring. Key icons and their functions include:
    • Power button: Toggles On/Off, Timed, and ECO modes.
    • Timed operation: Accesses timer settings.
    • Clock: Accesses clock settings.
    • Hot/Cold status: Displays 'Ready' or 'Wait' for hot and cold water.
    • Filter: Shows filter life status and indicates when replacement is needed.
    • Fault indicators: Displays various fault codes (e.g., F03-Power board error, F09-Water supply fault, F10-Chiller condenser over heat, F11-Chiller clean condenser).
  • Dispensing: Dedicated dispense buttons for cold and hot water are located on the front panel.
  • Temperature Adjustment: The temperature can be adjusted via the "Ready" screen settings.
  • PIN Lock: All units are fitted with a settings PIN lock. The master PIN code is available from Lincat Service if the user-set PIN is forgotten.
  • Water Supply Connection: Connects to mains supply via an accessible isolating tap with a ¾" BSP thread using the supplied hose set. An extra inline filter or strainer is recommended if solid particles are present in the supply.
  • Safety: During operation, parts may become hot; avoid accidental contact.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning:
    • Disconnect the appliance before cleaning.
    • Do not use a water jet or steam cleaner, or immerse the appliance.
    • Clean all panels with warm water and mild detergent; avoid abrasive materials. Dry with a soft cloth.
    • Regularly slide out and empty the drip tray.
    • Wipe dispensing tap spouts daily to remove limescale deposits.
  • Filter Replacement:
    • The filter display indicates remaining filter life and provides a reminder when replacement is due.
    • To replace, twist the base of the filter 90 degrees to the left and lower it out. It will contain a small amount of water.
    • Only use genuine Lincat filters.
    • Insert the new filter by twisting to the right to lock it in place.
    • Reset the filter life via the "Filter life icon" on the touchscreen.
    • Drain approximately 5 litres of water after replacement to remove loose carbon particles.
    • The boiler will not fill if the filter is removed, as the filter head incorporates a shut-off valve.
  • Descaling:
    • Descaling is a critical maintenance task to maintain warranty and prevent overfilling/leaking.
    • Lincat offers a purpose-designed de-scaler powder (part number DP10).
  • Servicing and Component Replacement:
    • All maintenance and component replacement should be carried out by Lincat's recommended service engineers.
    • A list of spare parts is provided, including control/display board, power boards, thermistors, level sensor cable, and chiller module.
  • Warranty:
    • The unit carries a comprehensive UK mainland 2-year warranty, conditional on proper maintenance and care.
    • The warranty does not cover accidental damage, misuse, consumable items (e.g., filters), incorrect installation, unauthorized service work, or damage due to scale/debris build-up.
    • Service attendance is based on reasonable access to the appliance.
