User safety instructions (WARNING)
• Please read all the safety instructions before using the CHAMELEON 4V+ welding helmet.
• CHAMELEON helmet and cartridge are not suitable for laser, laser cutting or gas welding.
• CHAMELEON helmets are designed to protect the eyes and face against sparks, spatter and harmful
radiation. However the helmet will not provide protection against explosive devices or corrosive
liquids.
• Never use the helmet if the cover plate has not been fitted correctly. Before each use, check that
no light is able to penetrate the helmet. Also check that the cover plate is clean and that there is no
dirt on the sensors on the front of the lens.
• Any parts which are scratched, cracked or pitted should be replaced immediately before the helmet
is used again in order to prevent serious injury.
• Do not use any replacement parts other than those specified in this manual. Before each use, please
check the enclosed list to make sure that the welding helmet has been supplied with all the relevant
parts.
• According your application, make sure that the shade setting is relevant with you welding
application. See the Shade Chart for welding to select the appropriate level of protection.
• CHAMELEON filters are suitable for MIG, MAG, TIG, SMAW, all types of arc welding, plasma welding
and cutting and air carbon gouging.
• Arc rays may burn eyes and skin; use adequate protective equipment.
Welding using the CHAMELEON 4V+ helmet
The CHAMELEON 4V+ welding helmet automatically changes from a light state (shade 3) to a dark
state (shade 8 to 13) when the welding arc starts. The lens automatically returns to a light state when
the arc stops.
During welding, you can make fine adjustments using the digital key inside the helmet. Please refer
to the shade chart to match the dark shade number to the application.
CHAMELEON 4V+ filter is suitable in grinding mode (external button) for grinding applications without
having to take off the helmet.
CHAMELEON 4V+ filter also protects from harmful UV and IR radiation at all times, in darkened or clear
state.
The lens contains 3 sensors to detect the light from the welding arc and darken the lens.
CHAMELEON 4V+ filter is equipped of solar panel allowing the lithium batteries to be recharged.

ens Delay Control
The lens delay control is used to slow the lens-switching time to the clear state after welding.
The delay is particularly useful in eliminating bright after-rays present in higher amperage
applications where the molten puddle remains bright momentarily after welding. Delay is adjustable
from (.10 second-Min. to 1.0 second-Max).
2
Sensitivity control
The sensitivity control is used to make the lens more responsive to differing light levels experienced
in various welding processes. We recommend a Mid-Range setting for most applications. See
recommended sensitivity table below.
1. Press on/off Button to turn helmet on. Helmet lens will darken twice and the clear.
2. Adjust the lowest setting of sensitivity.
3. Increase the sensitivity pushing the button.
4. When the lens will become dark, decrease the sensibility from 1 step. Helmet is ready for use.
Slight readjustment may be necessary for certain applications or if lens is flashing on and off.
