Overview

The Lincoln Electronic Lube Meter Model 967, Series "C", is a device designed for dispensing various fluids with precision and accuracy. It features a robust construction and advanced electronic components for reliable performance in demanding environments.

Function Description

The electronic lube meter is specifically engineered to dispense a range of automotive fluids, including motor oils (S.A.E. 5-50), gear oils (S.A.E. 80-240), automatic transmission fluid, and antifreeze (Ethylene Glycol) solution. The device operates by measuring the volume of fluid displaced by internal gears as the fluid passes through the metering chamber. Each rotation of the gears corresponds to a given volume of fluid, which is then displayed on the meter's LCD screen.

The core of the meter is an electronic register module, powered by a Lithium battery with an expected life of 3 to 5 years, depending on usage. This module incorporates a microprocessor board that allows for programming the unit of measure (pints, quarts, liters, or gallons) and totalization in liters or gallons. Unlike mechanical meters, the electronic design permits field recalibration when necessary, ensuring sustained accuracy over time.

The meter features a 5-digit liquid crystal display (LCD) that shows the dispensed fluid amount with accuracy to the second decimal place. The entire register module is housed in a rugged, glass-filled, shock-resistant nylon casing, protecting it from the typical wear and tear of shop use.

    • Minimum: 5 PSI (0.35 Bar)
  • Operating Temperature:
    • Maximum: 140° F (60° C)
    • Minimum: -4° F (-20° C)
  • Accuracy: +/- 0.5%
  • Weight: 3.7 Lbs. (1.7 KG)
  • Display: 5-Digit LCD, 5/16" high, showing Gallons, Pints, Quarts, Liters.
  • Connections: 1/2" NPTF Inlet and Outlet.
  • Pressure Rating: 1500 PSI.
  • Threads: NPT and BSP available.

Usage Features

The meter offers several user-friendly features to enhance its functionality and ease of use:

  • Large Six-Digit LCD Display: Provides clear and precise readings with two decimal point precision.
  • Selectable Units of Measure: Users can choose to display dispense totals in Pints, Quarts, Gallons, or Liters directly from the front of the register.
  • Totalization: The meter can totalize dispensed fluid in Gallons and Liters, offering both resettable and non-resettable totalizer functions.
  • Low Battery Indicator: A visual indicator appears on the display when the battery needs replacement, ensuring continuous operation.
  • Field-Replaceable Battery: The top-load battery can be easily replaced in the field, minimizing downtime.
  • Programmable Calibration Factor: The calibration factor can be programmed from the front of the register, and it is saved in non-volatile memory, preserving settings even during power loss.

Changing the Unit of Measure:

  1. Press the TOTAL button three times, followed by the RESET button three times within a two-second timeframe. The active unit measure symbol will begin flashing, indicating entry into programming mode.
  2. Press the RESET button repeatedly until the desired unit of measure appears flashing in the display.
  3. Simultaneously press and hold the RESET button and the TOTAL button for approximately three seconds to enter the new unit of measure and exit programming mode.

Programming Scale Factor:

  1. Press the TOTAL button three times and immediately press the RESET button three times within a two-second timeframe. The active unit of measure symbol will flash, indicating successful activation of the meter's programmable mode.
  2. Press the TOTAL button to advance the first digit of the scale factor. The first digit will be blinking.
  3. Press the RESET button to increment the digit to the desired value.
  4. Press TOTAL to move to the next digit. Repeat these steps for each digit.
  5. Once the value has been properly set, simultaneously press and hold both the RESET button and the TOTAL button for three seconds. This action will enter the scale factor value and exit programming mode.

Maintenance Features

The Lincoln Electronic Lube Meter is designed for durability and ease of maintenance, with several features to ensure its longevity and performance:

  • System Purging: New metering systems must be purged prior to installing the metering control valve to remove contaminants, preventing damage and ensuring accurate readings.
  • Thermal Relief Protection: For systems dispensing fluids under pressure, a thermal relief kit is recommended. This kit safely limits pressures caused by thermal expansion, preventing damage to the system. Failure to include this protection may void the warranty.
  • Automatic Nozzle Requirements: The automatic nozzle requires a minimum of 60 PSI to open and function properly. A pump exceeding 60 PSI (with a ratio of at least 3:1) is recommended for adequate flow and operation.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a detailed troubleshooting flowchart for common issues, including:
    • No material flow: Check pump, air supply, supply hose for obstructions, and screens.
    • Partial material flow: Check screens.
    • Leaks after shut-off: Check screens.
    • Leaking at handle trigger assembly: Check O-rings on the cam, flow rate, and meter pressure.
    • Faulty nozzle: Check valve seat assembly for foreign particles obstructing seating, and gland packing for oil leakage in the odometer.
    • Low battery indicator: Replace the battery.

These features collectively contribute to the meter's reliability, ease of use, and straightforward maintenance, making it a valuable tool for fluid dispensing applications.
