Overview

This document describes the Livoo Electric Coffee Maker (model DOD183), a household appliance designed to brew coffee. The manual provides comprehensive instructions for safe operation, use, and maintenance, ensuring a satisfactory user experience.

Function Description

The Livoo Electric Coffee Maker is designed to brew coffee from ground coffee powder using a drip-brew method. It features a water tank, a filter cone (for reusable mesh filter or paper filter), a filter holder, a carafe, and a warming plate. The appliance heats water, which then drips through the coffee grounds into the carafe, producing freshly brewed coffee. It is equipped with an ON/OFF switch and an indicator lamp to show operation status. The coffee maker is intended for household use and similar applications, such as staff kitchen areas in shops, offices, other working environments, farmhouses, hotels, motels, other residential type environments, and bed and breakfast type environments.

Usage Features

Before first use, it is crucial to clean the carafe, reusable mesh filter, and filter basket with warm soapy water and rinse them thoroughly. To operate the coffee maker, first, uncover the top lid and fill the water tank with clean water up to the desired level, indicated by the water gauge. Next, place an adequate quantity of coffee powder into the filter cone, which can accommodate either the provided reusable mesh filter or a paper filter, inside the filter holder. Ensure the carafe is correctly placed on the drip plate beneath the filter holder. Close the top cover securely.

Once prepared, switch on the appliance using the ON/OFF switch. The indicator lamp will illuminate, signifying that the brewing process has begun. It is important to note that the reservoir lid should not be opened during the brew cycle to prevent scalding. The appliance will continue to brew until the water tank is empty. After brewing, the coffee maker will automatically switch into off mode within 40 minutes, keeping the coffee warm on the drip plate. After use, always unplug the appliance from the socket. For brewing subsequent carafes of coffee, it is recommended to allow the coffeemaker to cool down completely for a few minutes before starting a new cycle.

The appliance is designed for ease of use, with clear markings and simple controls. It is not intended to be operated by external timers or separate remote-control systems. Users are advised to handle the coffee maker by its handle, as the warming plate and other parts of the appliance can become hot during and after operation. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used near children or infirm persons. The cord should not hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces. The appliance should not be placed on or near a hot gas burner or a heated oven. It is strictly for indoor use.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and descaling are essential to maintain the performance and longevity of the Livoo Electric Coffee Maker. Before any cleaning, always ensure the appliance is unplugged from the socket and has completely cooled down, especially the carafe. To avoid thermal shock, do not wash the carafe immediately after use when it is still hot. The inside of the carafe should be cleaned with a soft brush in warm soapy water, rinsed with fresh water, and dried before the next use. While some parts may be dishwasher safe, frequent washing in a dishwasher might cause them to fade; polishing with a soft, dry cloth can help restore their appearance. The exterior of the appliance should be wiped with a soft, moist cloth once it has cooled down completely; metal polish should never be used. Crucially, the cord, plug, or the appliance itself must never be immersed in water.

Descaling is a vital maintenance task that should be performed regularly, at least twice a year, or more frequently depending on the hardness of the water used. Generally, descaling every two months is recommended. To descale, place the carafe onto the base. Prepare a descaling solution by mixing three cups of vinegar with nine cups of cold water, then fill the water tank up to the maximum level with this solution. Switch on the appliance for one minute, then switch it off and let it sit for half an hour. After this waiting period, press the start button to allow the entire cleaning solution to drip into the carafe. Once the process is complete, discard the cleaning solution and thoroughly clean the carafe. To ensure all descaler residues are removed, operate two or more brewing cycles with fresh, cold water, discarding the obtained hot water each time. This thorough cleaning process helps prevent mineral buildup and ensures optimal coffee taste.

The appliance is designed for easy cleaning of surfaces that come into contact with food, which is crucial for hygiene. In case of any damage to the supply cord, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards. For any repairs, a competent qualified electrician from the after-sales department of the producer or importer, or any approved and competent person, should be consulted. The appliance should be returned to this electrician for safe repair.
