2. Disassembly/reassembly
Valve spring retainer:
Laterally move valve stem’s front end along the valve
spring’s retainer’s center hole and remove the valve spring
retainer.
Do not remove the valve spring retainer while the cylinder
head is installed, or the valves will drop into the cylinder.

Reassembly:
If the valve retaine

is not installed, the
valve may drop into
the cylinder when
starting the engine.

Reassembly:
First make sure no
end of them is worn,
and both lifters and
rods are straight, then
insert them through
the guide plate holes,
then through
crankcase’s lifter
holes and install them
to the specified
places.
Exhaust valve
Reassembly:
Before installation,
remove carbon deposits
and inspect for damage
of valve face.
Reassembly:
Do not interchange
with exhaust valve or
damage valve stem.
Rocker arm
Reassembly:
Before installing,
check for wear on the
surface which
contacts the push rod
is worn.
