If the diesel start sounds don’t occur when you first turn power on for your M.T.H. Toy, wait 10 -- 15 seconds before repowering.
Why diesel start sounds don’t occur on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the diesel start sounds don’t occur when you first turn power on for your M.T.H. Toy, wait 10 -- 15 seconds before repowering.
Why won’t the ProtoCoupler uncouple on the fly on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the ProtoCoupler won’t let the engine uncouple on the “Fly” on your M.T.H. Toy, the power required to fire the coupler open when the engine is on the “Fly” may be greater than the Proto-Sound system is capable of providing. Unfortunately, the only solution is to stop the engine and fire the coupler in Neutral.
Why bell doesn’t ring on my M.T.H. Toy?
If you can’t get the bell to ring when you press the whistle button on your M.T.H. Toy, you may be pressing the whistle button too quickly. See the 3rd remedy in the horn section above.
Why do the sounds seem distorted on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the sounds on your M.T.H. Toy seem distorted, especially when using the whistle or bell, it could be that the overall volume is set too high. Try turning the volume control knob, located on the bottom of the chassis, counter-clockwise to reduce the volume level.
Why does the bell only ring once on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the bell only rings once when you press the whistle button to activate it on your M.T.H. Toy, you are trying to ring the bell in RESET instead of neutral. Interrupt the power twice to enter Neutral, set the voltage at 8 volts or less and press the whistle button to activate the bell.
Why does the diesel volume reset on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the diesel volume resets to the original volume after you set it on your M.T.H. Toy, you are trying to set the volume with a poorly charged or dead backup battery. See the section on Battery Backup for more information.
Why won’t my M.T.H. Toy engine lock out?
If the M.T.H. Toy engine won’t lock out into Forward, Neutral, or Reverse, even after the short horn blast, you are waiting too long to turn the throttle back on after the short horn blast sounds. The power must be turned back on immediately after the short horn blast sounds or the engine will go back into RESET.
Why does the horn sound when I try to activate the bell on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the horn sounds when you press the whistle button to activate the bell on your M.T.H. Toy, you are trying to ring the bell in Forward or Reverse. The bell only operates in Neutral unless you have programmed Proto-Sounds to recognize a separate bell button.
Why no sounds when engine shifts direction on M.T.H. Toy?
If you get no sounds when the engine shifts between direction states on your M.T.H. Toy, the battery may be dead or needs charging. See the Battery Backup section for more information.
Why does the bell come on when I press the whistle button on my M.T.H. Toy?
If the bell comes on instead of the horn when you press the whistle button on your M.T.H. Toy, you are likely trying to operate the horn in neutral. The horn will only operate in Forward or Reverse unless you program Proto-Sound through Feature 25.
