Problem Diagnostics/solution Suggestions
Lack of steam distri-
bution from the pipe
The steam pipe nozzle is obstructed,
clear it using a pin.
This problem is caused by immersing
the spout into the milk.
Clean the steam spout
after use.
Leakage from the
portafilter
Possible causes:
1- The lower bowl sealing is worn or
encrusted.
2- The portafilter is positioned
incorrectly on the group.
3- The filter in the portafilter is
damaged.
In all of the above-men-
tioned cases, call a skilled
technician
Too little coffee
dispensed
The coffee dispenses drop by drop,
the dispensing time is too long, the
quality of the coffee is not good and
presents a dark cream.
Possible causes:
1- The coffee grind is too fine.
2- The coffee in the portafilter is
packed too tightly.
3- The small nozzle of the group is
obstructed.
4- The filter into the portafilter is
obstructed.
5- The pump pressure is low [<9 bar
(0.9 Mpa)], or the pump is not
working (volumetric pump ver-
sion).
In cases 1 and 2, you will
need to adjust the grinder
correctly.
In cases 3 and 5, you will
need to call a technician.
In case 4, clean the filter
or replace it.
The coffee dispenses
too quickly
The coffee dispenses too quickly and
the cream is clearer than usual.
Possible causes:
1- The grind of the coffee is too
coarse.
2- The coffee in the portafilter is
packed too tightly.
3- The coffee portion in the porta-
filter is insufficient.
4- The pressure of the pump is too
high [>10 bar (1 Mpa)] (volumetric
pump version).
In cases 1-2-3 you will need
to adjust the grinder cor-
rectly. In case 4 you will
need to call a technician.
