Fig. 102: Controls
1 “Fifth wheel coupling” switches
2 “Fifth wheel coupling” control light
3 “Kingpin” control light
The fifth wheel coupling can only be opened when the
MT is at a standstill.
Unhitching procedure
X Park the MT and apply the parking brake.
X Lower the supports of the trailer.
X Secure the semi-trailer against rolling away.
X Disconnect the electrical lines.
X Disconnect the coupling heads of the air hoses.
First, disconnect the coupling head of the supply line (red);
this brakes the semi-trailer.
Then after that, disconnect the coupling head of the brake
line (yellow).
X Hook the coupling heads into the intended holding fixtures.
You thereby protect the coupling heads from soiling and
damage.
X Engage the reverse gear and release the parking brake.
X Roll backwards slightly with the MT.
X Press both switches 1 simultaneously in the instrument
panel to unlock the fifth wheel coupling.
3 The control light 2 in the instrument panel goes out.
X Switch the driving direction.
X Keep the “fifth wheel coupling” switches pressed and drive
the MT forwards.
Do not release the button 1 until the kingpin is outside the
coupling.
3 The control light 3 in the instrument panel goes out.
