Why does my Makita Trimmer engine not start?
- JjohnkellyAug 10, 2025
If your Makita Trimmer engine won't start, it could be due to several reasons. You may need to push the primer pump 7 to 10 times, pull the starter rope more strongly, or add fuel if it's lacking. Other potential causes include a clogged fuel filter (clean it), a broken fuel tube (straighten it), or deteriorated fuel (replace it, ideally monthly). If there's excessive fuel suction, set the throttle lever from medium to high speed and pull the starter handle until the engine starts. Also, check if the plug cap is detached (attach it securely), the spark plug is contaminated (clean it), or the spark plug clearance is abnormal (adjust it) or the spark plug is damaged (replace it). For carburetor, starter rope, or drive system issues, request an inspection and maintenance service.
