What to do if oil is not supplied to the chain of my Makita Chainsaw?
- RRichard FreyJul 26, 2025
If the oil is not being properly supplied to the chain of your Makita Chainsaw, several issues could be the cause. First, the filter may be clogged, in which case you should clean it with kerosene. Another potential cause is a blockage in the lubricating mechanism. To resolve this, remove the housing and disassemble the lubricating mechanism, checking for foreign matter in the filter within the oil tank, the oil tube, and the oil pump. If any parts are clogged, remove the foreign matter and clean the affected part(s) with kerosene. Reassemble the lubricating mechanism and housing, then the filter and push nut. Run the chainsaw to check if the oil now flows correctly. Lastly, a broken oil pump could be the problem, requiring you to replace it with a new one.
