2. Tape Speed Adjustment
SETUP
1. Power voltage:— 50 or 60 Hz AC voltage rated for
the unit to be used in a market country.
. Output terminal:— LINE OUTPUT (or DIN).
. Test tape used:— MTT-111 (3 kHz Tone) at 1-7/8
ISP.
MTT-111SP at 3-3/4 IPS.
. Unit position:— Vertical.
. Tape speed selector switch: -STANDARD or HIGH.
PROCEDURES
1. For 1-7/8 ips, play the mid portion of the test tape
MTT-111 back. Adjust the tape speed adjusting
variable resistor inside the motor for 2990 to 3010
Hz counter indication.
. For 3-3/4 ips, play the mid portion of the test tape
MTT-111 back. Adjust R327 for 5990 to 6010
Hz counter indication.
FREQUENCY
TONE: 3 kHz

LINE OUTPUT
CAUTIONS
. The tape deck should be set up in the normal
operating condition.
. Do not turn the variable resistor more than need-
ed.
. Do not proceed with adjustment after the tape
deck terminature has changed.
. If a strong shock or vibration is applied to the tape
deck after adjustment, make certain that the. mea-
sured tape speed had not changed.
. If the tape speed deviation occurs, perform the
adjustment again.
. The counter may indicate a wrong value because
of too low counter input level.
. Before adjustment, allow for 30 seconds or more
after depressing of the PLAY pushbutton.
NOTE: Be sure to carry out the 1-7/8 ips tape speed
adjustment first.

3. Playback Equalizer Adjustment
SETUP
1. Power voltage:— 50 or 60 Hz AC voltage rated for
the unit to be used in a market country.
. TAPE SELECTOR switch position:— NORMAL.
. Load:— Measuring instrument input impedance.
. Output terminal:— LINE OUTPUT.
. Test tape used:— MTT-216.
. Tape speed selector switch: — STANDARD.
PROCEDURES :
1. Play the test tape MTT-216. Let the 315 Hz
signal level be reference as O dB.
2. Adjust R168 and R268 (5 kQ each) for 10 kHz
frequency response of 0 to —1 dB in reference to
the 315 Hz signal level.
NOTE: 1. Proceed both for the right and left chan-
nels in the same manner.
2. Note that clockwise turning of R168 and
R268 will increase the 10 kHz signal out-
put level. (In case of Adjusting from the
solder side)

4. LED Meter Adjustment
Tape Selector switch — NORMAL position.
PROCEDURES
. Apply a 1 kHz —60 GB signal from the mic.
. Switch the Monitor switch to souse.
. Adjust the mic volume to provide 3V DC at J601
(L_ch.). (J621 for R ch.).
. Adjust resistor trimmer R602 (R622 for R ch.) so
that the ‘0’ LED lights.
. Adjust the mic volume to provide 580 mV (AC) at
J107 (L ch.) J207 (Rch.).
. Adjust R610 resistor trimmer (R630 for R ch.) so
that the “+2 "LED lights. |
