Why does my Marey GA5PORT not start?
    • N
      Nicholas MejiaJul 27, 2025
The Marey Water Heater might not start due to several reasons. Ensure you have new batteries installed correctly, following the instructions on the battery case. Insufficient water pressure (less than 5 PSI) can also prevent ignition. Check that the water hose is properly connected, with the incoming pipe on the far right and the outgoing in the middle. If a wire has disconnected during shipping, turn off the gas valve and switch, remove the front cover (held by four screws), and check all plastic connectors. Debris in the water regulator or a dirty water inlet filter screen can also cause this issue; try flushing the system by reversing the hookup. Lastly, verify that the cold water inlet and shower handle (water outlet) are correctly connected.

What to do if my Marey GA5PORT starts then shuts off?

If your Marey Water Heater starts and then shuts off, check that water is flushing in the heat exchanger so the thermocouple can complete the circuit. The unit might shut off if the temperature is too low or too high. Also, inspect the gas sensors to ensure they are properly connected and haven't come loose. If you're using propane, cycle the unit on and off several times to purge any air from the gas line, especially with new tanks. Avoid exposing the water heater to strong winds. Finally, ensure your water pressure is at least 5 PSI for the unit to activate and ideally around 40-60 PSI for adequate use.

What to do if my Marey Water Heater flows water but no hot water?

If water flows through your Marey Water Heater but isn't heating, first, replace the batteries in the ignition switch, ensuring they're correctly aligned (+/-) as indicated in the battery case. Confirm that the water pressure is at least 5 PSI. Adjust the gas regulator to the low position and the water regulator to the high position for the lowest available setting. To increase the outgoing temperature, turn the gas valve to the right, allowing a short delay for the temperature to adjust. For the highest setting, turn the gas regulator to the maximum, checking the temperature frequently to avoid scalding. Ensure the Liquid Propane regulator is fully threaded and the propane tank has enough gas. Finally, verify that the incoming and outgoing water supplies are correctly connected, with the ...
