GRILL SAFETY CHECK
For your family’s safety, please check the following:
READ and UNDERSTAND the owner’s manual
PERFORM LEAK TEST on all connections as specied in this user manual. Leak Checks should be performed
on all new BBQ’s even if assembled by an assembler or gas technician. Leak checks should be performed
frequently thereafter.
INSPECT and CLEAN burner tubes to avoid ash res caused by spider webs and other blockages. Inspect gas
jets to ensure they are correctly installed in burner tubes. Never leave a lit grill unattended.
BEFORE OPENING THE GAS SUPPLY, ensure the lid is open, control knobs are in OFF position, gas is turned o,
and the regulator is attached to tank correctly. Then follow the PROPER LIGHTING PROCEDURE as shown in the
manual. If above steps are not followed, you may experience low ames, or other performance issues.
CHECK that the regulator nipple is centered into the LP tank valve. Do NOT cross thread this connection. Cross
threading may result in a re, or explosion at the tank connection.
AVOID dangerous grease res by performing regular cleaning and maintenance of interior casting, the grease
collection system, ame tamers and cooking grates.

How to fix a Master Chef Grill when the burner won't light?
    • C
      Carl CarrilloJul 26, 2025
If the burner on your Master Chef Grill won't light with either the igniter or a match, here's what you can check: * Ensure that your propane tank isn't low or empty. * Verify that the cylinder or gas supply valve is turned on. * Make sure there's a secure connection between the tank and the regulator, as a poor connection can prevent fuel flow. * Inspect the burner port holes and venturi tubes for any blockages. * Confirm that the venturi tubes are correctly seated over the valve orifices. * Consider whether the flow limiting device in the regulator has been activated.

Why does my Master Chef 280 light with a match but not the igniter?
    • C
      Cheryl HollandJul 30, 2025
If your Master Chef Grill burner lights with a match but not with the igniter, it could be due to several reasons: * A loose electrode wire connection. * A broken electrode (check for damage to the ceramic casing). * A poor ground due to improper assembly of the igniter module connection. * A damaged or dead battery. * A faulty igniter.

Why is my Master Chef 280 Grill burner not getting hot enough?
    • P
      patrick38Aug 3, 2025
If your Master Chef Grill burner isn't getting hot enough, consider the following: * Preheat the grill for 10 minutes with the lid closed; ambient temperatures can affect performance, so keep the lid closed in colder weather. * Check if the flow limiting device in the regulator has been activated. For natural gas models: * Ensure there are no installation issues related to an incorrectly sized supply line or inadequate water column supply for the grill's BTU rating. Also, do not use a natural gas hose longer than the one supplied with your grill.

What to do if the electrode sparks but the Master Chef 280 burner won't light?
    • M
      martinveronicaAug 7, 2025
If the electrode in your Master Chef Grill sparks but the burner won't light, check these potential issues: * Ensure the electrode is properly spaced from the burner, ideally about 3/16 or slightly over 1/8 of an inch, and positioned within the collector box. * Inspect the collector box for damage; if corroded, lightly sand it, but replace it if pierced or excessively worn. * Clear any blockages within the Venturi tubes to ensure proper gas flow to the burner.

Why does the flame blow out on low on my Master Chef 280 Grill?
    • C
      Cory WebbAug 12, 2025
If the flame on your Master Chef Grill blows out when set to LOW, here are some possible causes: * High wind conditions – adjust the grill's placement to shield it from the wind. * Low propane level. * Burner improperly seated on the gas jet. * Flame tamers (heat plates) not in the correct position. * Activated flow limiting device in the regulator. For natural gas models: * Installation issues related to an incorrect size supply line installed and /or Water Column supply is not adequate for a BBQ BTU rating of this BBQ. Do not use a longer Natural Gas hose than is supplied with your BBQ.
