GRIDDLE SAFETY CHECK
FOR YOUR FAMILY’S SAFETY, PLEASE CHECK THE FOLLOWING:
READ and UNDERSTAND the owner’s manual.
CHECK that the regulator nipple is centred into the LP cylinder valve. DO NOT cross thread this
connection. Cross threading may result in a fire or explosion at the tank connection.
PERFORM LEAK TEST on all connections as specified in this user manual. Leak checks should be
performed on all new griddles even if assembled by an assembler or gas technician. Leak checks should be
performed frequently thereafter.
DO NOT position or operate griddle under an overhang, or unprotected construction, against a wall, near
aluminum siding, windows or fencing.
INSPECT and CLEAN burner tubes to avoid flash fires caused by spider webs and other blockages. Inspect
gas jets to ensure they are correctly installed in burner tubes. NEVER LEAVE A LIT GRILL UNATTENDED.
BEFORE OPENING THE GAS SUPPLY, control knobs are in OFF position, gas is turned o, and the regulator
is attached to tank correctly. Then follow the PROPER LIGHTING PROCEDURE as shown in the manual. If
above steps are not followed, you may experience low flames, or other performance issues.
AVOID dangerous grease fires by performing regular cleaning and maintenance of interior casting, the grease
collection system, flame tamers and cooking grates.
Large yellow flames and the smell of gas indicate a blockage in the burner, usually a spider web. Remove the
burner and clear the obstruction.

What to do if my Master Chef TURISMO Grill has frequent flare-ups?
    • R
      Richard WallsAug 18, 2025
If your Master Chef Grill experiences frequent flare-ups, it's likely due to barbecue maintenance being required or cooking temperatures being too high. Clean the interior of the barbecue, including the baffle plate, grease trough, and interior surfaces, to remove grease buildup. Consider cooking at lower temperatures for longer periods, keeping the temperature under 350°F (177°C) when cooking greasy food.

Why is my Master Chef Grill producing excess smoke?
    • T
      Thomas PattersonAug 22, 2025
Excessive or dark smoke from your Master Chef Grill can stem from a few causes: * **Maintenance:** The barbecue might need cleaning. Check and clean interior parts as outlined in the Cleaning and Maintenance section. During shutdown, turn the unit to “MAX” to burn off excess grease. * **Pellets:** Old or damp wood pellets, or using incorrect pellets (like heating pellets instead of grilling pellets), can cause this issue. Check and clear the hopper and burner pot, replacing old pellets with fresh, dry ones. * **Ash:** Too much ash in the burner pot can also lead to excess smoke. When the unit is cool, vacuum the burner pot and the interior of the barbecue.

What to do if LCD screen will not light up on Master Chef TURISMO Grill?
    • P
      Patricia RiveraAug 28, 2025
If the LCD screen on your Master Chef Grill isn't lighting up, here are a few things to check: * **Power Cord:** Make sure the controller is in the “OFF” position and the power cord is properly plugged in. Also, ensure the barbecue is plugged into a working GFCI outlet. * **GFCI Outlet:** The GFCI outlet may have tripped. Ensure it's a minimum 15-amp service and you're not using an extension cord longer than 25’. Reset the GFCI outlet. If it trips again, try a different outlet. * **Circuit Board Fuse:** The circuit board fuse might have tripped. Ensure all wire connections are firmly connected and dry. The 5-amp fuse must be manually replaced.

Why is the temperature on my Master Chef TURISMO too high on the 'Smoke' setting?
    • J
      Justin MarksAug 31, 2025
If your Master Chef Grill's temperature is too high on the “SMOKE” setting, it could be because the “P” setting is too low, or there were too many leftover pellets in the burner pot at start-up. Make sure the controller is on the “SMOKE” setting. Gently push the “P” Reset button with a paper clip to increase to the next “P” setting. See the Operation Section of this manual for more information.

Why is the temperature flashing on my Master Chef TURISMO Grill?
    • C
      Christine NorrisSep 2, 2025
A flashing temperature on your Master Chef Grill indicates that the temperature is below 150°F (65°C). This warns that the fire could go out at low temperatures. Check the following: a) Hopper for sufficient fuel or blockage. b) Burner pot for ash buildup or obstructions (only when cool). c) Fan operation. d) Auger motor operation.

    • R
      rioscolleenNov 24, 2025
The “Erh” error message on your Master Chef Grill indicates that the barbecue has overheated, potentially due to a grease fire, over-firing from excess fuel, high ambient temperatures, or direct sunlight. To resolve this: 1. Turn the controller “OFF” and unplug the power cord. 2. Allow the barbecue to cool completely. 3. Thoroughly clean and maintain all interior parts, including cooking grates, baffle plate, grease trough, and burner pot. 4. Plug in the power cord. 5. Open the lid and turn the controller to “SMOKE”. 6. Wait until smoke is produced (3-5 minutes) before setting the desired temperature and closing the lid. 7. • Griddle Cleaning Tools: Recommended tools include protective gloves, cloth/paper towels, steel wool/grill stone, scraper, long-handle tongs, squeeze bottle of water, and squeeze bottle of oil.
  • Griddle Top Cleaning: After each cook, debris should be scraped off, and a thin coat of oil applied to maintain seasoning and prevent rust. For hard-to-remove grease, warm water can be used.
  • Rust Removal: If rust spots appear, the griddle top should be dampened with water and scrubbed with steel wool or a grill stone until rust is lifted, then rinsed and re-seasoned.
  • Grease Catch Cleaning: The grease catch must be removed and cleaned after every use to prevent spillage and grease fires.
  • Burner and Firebox Maintenance: Seasonal maintenance involves removing the griddle top to access and clean the burners. This includes using a flexible venturi brush to clear spider webs and nests, cleaning burner port holes with a wire or paper clip, and brushing away rust/corrosion.
  • Valve Gas Jet Cleaning: Before reinstalling burners, a cotton swab should be used to clean the valve gas jet.
  • Exterior Parts Cleaning: Routine cleaning of exterior surfaces with a vinegar and water solution or warm water and detergent is recommended to remove dirt and prevent damage. Abrasive or chloride-containing cleaners should be avoided.
  • Storage: The griddle should be stored in a cool, dry location, preferably outdoors in a well-ventilated area if the LP cylinder is attached. The griddle top should be seasoned and protected, and the unit covered with a protective grill cover.
