Fuel System
01 Description
72-litre twin-pump aluminium fuel tank.
02 Customer Benefits
The fuel tank capacity and system remains similar to the
650S, with further optimisation to the aluminium structure
and now a single electronic control unit for both pumps to
minimise weight.
The fuel tank assembly is mounted centrally within the
wheelbase of the vehicle to minimise the effect of
changing fuel levels. The filler position is always on the left
side of the vehicle and the cover is locked with the vehicle,
it’s also a cap-less design as with all current McLaren
vehicles. Start-stop technology and fuel saving measures
mean even longer between inconvenient fuel stops (5%
longer on average).
POWERTRAIN
03 Options & Limitations
Do not use fuel additives in Sports Series or fuel that does not
meet the requirement of EN 228 as the likelihood of engine
wear and damage is increased.
Do not use E85 fuels (85% Ethanol content), serious damage
will occur to the engine. Sports Series is not fitted with the
equipment necessary for the use of fuels containing more than
10% ethanol.
