MAINTAINING YOUR McLAREN
WHEELS AND TYRES
191
Using the tyre sealant
You can use the tyre sealant to seal small
punctures, particularly those in the tyre's tread.
The tyre sealant can be used at ambient
temperatures down to -20°C (-4°F).
WARNING: The tyre sealant is unable
to seal punctures if:
there are cuts or punctures in the tyre
greater than 4 mm;
the rims are damaged;
you have driven at very low tyre
pressures or with flat tyres.
Contact a McLaren Dealer immediately.
Remove the tyre sealant from the luggage
compartment and follow the instructions on the
container.
NOTE: If possible, locate the cause of the
puncture and position the wheel so the
puncture is at the lowest point to enable the
sealant to be more effective.
Have the punctured tyre replaced as soon as
possible.
WARNING: Have punctured tyres
replaced. McLaren do not recommend
that punctured tyres are repaired.
WARNING: If the tyre sealant comes
into contact with your eyes or skin,
immediately rinse thoroughly with clean
water, change out of clothing which has
been in contact with the tyre sealant. If an
allergic reaction occurs, contact a doctor
immediately.
WARNING: Keep the tyre sealant out of
reach of children. If tyre sealant is
swallowed, immediately rinse the mouth
thoroughly and drink a large amount of
water. Do not induce vomiting. Contact a
doctor immediately. Do not inhale tyre
sealant fumes.
NOTE: After using tyre sealant, the tyre
valve, incorporating the tyre pressure
monitoring system sensor*, will have to be
replaced.
