The Medela Apgar Timer is used during childbirth in the hospital
to measure and indicate a length of time at predetermined inter-
vals from the setting time; this being when the baby is born. The
Apgar score is used to assist a healthcare professional to deter-
mine the physical health of a newborn infant and its response to
birth and life outside the womb at intervals of 1, 5 and 10 min-
utes. The total numerical score is 10. In addition, the exact time
of birth can be stored for later retrieval.
No contraindications are currently known.
Do not touch the patient and the battery contacts simul-
taneously.
