Fill the tank or open the valve. * A faulty fuel pump, wiring, fuel pump fuse, 50 amp circuit breaker, or fuel pump relay could be the issue. Replace the faulty component. * A component of the ignition system may be faulty. Service the ignition system. * The lanyard stop may be activated. Reset it. * The fuel filter might be obstructed. Replace the filters. * The fuel could be stale or contaminated. If contaminated, drain the tank and fill it with fresh fuel.

      There are several reasons why your Mercury Racing Engine might be hard to start, run rough, miss, or backfire: * A faulty ignition system component could be the cause. Service the ignition system. * The fuel filter might be clogged. Replace the filters. * The fuel could be stale or contaminated. If contaminated, drain the tank and fill it with fresh fuel. * A kinked or clogged fuel line or fuel tank vent line could be restricting fuel flow. Replace kinked lines or blow out lines with compressed air to remove the obstruction. * The flame arrestor might be plugged. Clean or replace the flame arrestor. * The rev limiter may be engaging at wide-open throttle. Change to a propeller with more pitch.
