IMPORTANT: If no water is coming out of the water pump indicator
hole, stop engine and check cooling water intake for obstruction.
No obstruction may indicate a water pump failure or blockage in
the cooling system. These conditions will cause the engine to
overheat. Have the outboard checked by your dealer. Operating
the engine while overheated will cause serious engine damage.
1. 9.9, 15, 18, EH Models:Place the shift lever in the Neutral
(N) position.
NOTE: Be sure that the shift is in Neutral (N) when starting the
engine. This model is provided with a function that prevents
starting in gear protection.
IMPORTANT: If the motor somehow does start in gear, do not use
it. Contact your authorized dealer.
2. Turn the throttle grip until the mark on the grip faces the
triangular mark on the steering handle.
