2 Maintenance
6. Turn the carrier and fit the correct value of shims pack as
previously calculated (Fig 2.19) (see Shim Pack Calculation
Section) into the base of the inner bearing bore of the carrier
(Fig 2.20).

7. Apply assembly oil to the bearing seat area of the carrier
(Fig2.21) and using a suitable tool (MST4901), press the inner
bearing cup into the carrier until it is squarely against the
shoulder in the bottom of its bore (Fig.2.22).
Apply a press load of 6 - 8 ton.
