used in our Mini Rectifier Twenty-Five and has the ability to enhance many styles. It’s the perfect fit for the 6 versatile preamp Modes
in this MARK rendering as well. The 10 Watt setting is great for lower volume practicing, rehearsing and recording and allows more
use of the power section as a gain source, enabling you to reduce the preamp’s GAIN Control settings and explore the old school
approach to achieving tube overdrive... power saturation.
SOLO 1, SOLO 2: Active / Preview
This section of the Front Panel houses the Channel Independent SOLO feature, which
allows you to have an additional MASTER volume control preset to a different volume level than the Channel’s MASTER control and
then switch to it during performance. Unlike the Global SOLO controls found on other MESA amplifiers, these controls allow settings
both above and below that of the selected Channel’s MASTER control.
PREVIEW & ACTIVE MODES (Footswitch)
The Channel’s SOLO controls can only be utilized when the MARK FIVE:
35 Footswitch is connected. Select the desired Channel with the Channel button (far left) on the Footswitch and then select the cor-
responding SOLO button (far right) on the Footswitch.
The SOLO Feature on the Footswitch includes a PREVIEW Mode for each of the two SOLO controls that indicate whether the SOLO
control for the inactive Channel (that you are NOT playing through) will be active when you next return to that (currently inactive) Chan-
nel. When the SOLO for the Active Channel is selected, the small LED Indicating light in the Front Panel of the amplifier illuminates
and the LED in the Footswitch for that corresponding Active Channel lights up and is the same color as the Active Channel (the one
you are currently in)… GREEN for Channel 1, RED for Channel 2.
If you select SOLO on the inactive Channel (the one you’re NOT playing through), the SOLO indicating LED on the Footswitch il-
luminates more dimly and is YELLOW in color. This is your indication that when you next trigger that inactive Channel, the SOLO for
that Channel will be active and determine your overall volume level. At that time the SOLO indicating LED in your currently selected
Channel that WAS glowing dimly YELLOW will turn to the Channel’s color (see above) and begin to glow full strength.
Again, the indicating LED for either Channel’s corresponding SOLO control on the amplifier’s Front Panel will ONLY illuminate full
strength and ONLY when you are in that Channel with the SOLO activated.
With the POWER switch to engage AC power from the wall and the STANDBY to allow tube warm up at cold-start as well as cool
down at set breaks, the tour of the Front Panel is complete. Now let’s review the Rear Panel and explore the MARK FIVE: 35’s com-
prehensive list of interfacing and Effects possibilities.
