Measurement Procedure

Setting the Range Switch

Set the RANGE switch to the proper meter multiplier (X1, X10, X100) for expected power.

Power Scale Correlation

Details power scale correlation for different MFJ models (e.g., MFJ-891, MFJ-892).

HF/VUHF Band Selection

Select HF (out) or VUHF (depressed) band using the push button (MFJ-894 only).

Transceiver and Scale Reading

Set radio to transmit and read the scale corresponding to the selected RANGE.

AVG vs. PEP Mode

Select AVG for average RF power or PEP for Peak Envelope Power (SSB/AM).

LED Backlight Control

Push button controls LED backlight and activates PEP mode (MFJ-891).
