This document describes the Microlife Advanced Blood Pressure Monitor, Model # BP3GQ1-3P, an automatic digital blood pressure measuring device designed for adults for upper arm use in home healthcare environments or a doctor's office. It provides fast and reliable measurements of systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as well as pulse rate, using the oscillometric method. The device also detects irregular heartbeats during measurement and provides a warning signal.
Function Description:
The monitor measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure and pulse rate. It is intended for self-measurement and monitoring of blood pressure and pulse in adults. The device detects irregular heartbeats and provides a warning signal. It stores the last 60 measurements automatically with date and time. The Hypertension Risk Indicator feature helps users understand their potential blood pressure risk by classifying readings into normal (green), pre-hypertension (yellow), stage 1 hypertension (orange), or stage 2 hypertension (red) zones, based on National Institutes of Health JNC7, 2003 standards.
- Intended Use: For self-measurement/monitoring of blood pressure and pulse in adults, within a home healthcare environment, with a cuff located on the user's upper arm, ½ inch above the elbow over the artery.
- Not Intended For Use With: Pregnancy, preeclampsia, children under 12, or neonatal patients.
- Warnings: Self-measuring is for monitoring, not diagnosis or treatment. Consult a doctor for unusual values and never independently alter drug dosages. Consult a physician before use if conditions like arrhythmias (atrial or ventricular premature beats, atrial fibrillation), arterial sclerosis, poor perfusion, diabetes, age, pregnancy, preeclampsia, or renal diseases are present. Motion during measurement may affect accuracy. Supervise children around the device as small parts can be swallowed. Ensure cuff tubing is not kinked to prevent harmful injury from blood flow interference.
- DO NOT: Use if damaged or unusual operation is observed. Use the displayed pulse for checking heart pacemakers. Open or modify the device. Conduct many frequent measurements as this may cause harmful injury. Place the cuff over a wound, intravascular access, therapy, arteriovenous shunt, or near a mastectomy. Use simultaneously with other medical equipment on the same limb. Maintain prolonged pressure in the cuff.
- Cautions: Contains sensitive electronic components; avoid strong electrical or electromagnetic fields. Remove batteries for extended storage to prevent leakage. Replace all batteries simultaneously. Ensure cuff is correctly placed and snug (not tight). Consult a physician for frequent irregular heartbeat detections. The Risk Indicator is not a diagnosis or substitute for medical examination. Do not drop or expose to strong vibrations. Use within specified operating and storage temperature/humidity ranges; avoid direct sunlight. Do not use in a moving vehicle. Use only Microlife authorized accessories.

- Cuff Usage: Wide Range Cuff (22 cm - 42 cm / 8.7" - 16.5") is included. The cuff should be placed ½ inch above the elbow, with the red strip (Artery Mark) over the artery. Ensure the cuff fits snugly, allowing 2 fingers between the arm and cuff.
- Measurement Preparation: Avoid eating, smoking, and exertion before measurement. Relax for 5 minutes. Measure on the same arm (normally left) at the same time of day for comparable results.
- Measurement Process: Remain seated quietly. Press the POWER button. The cuff inflates, then slowly deflates. Systolic, diastolic, and pulse values are displayed.
- Memory Recall: Press the "M" button to view stored readings. The display first shows "A" (average of all measurements), then previous values. Hold "M" to scroll.
- Memory Clear: With the unit off, press and hold "M" until "CL" appears, then release. Press "M" again while "CL" is flashing to permanently clear all stored values.
- Stopping Measurement: Press the POWER button at any time to stop a measurement.
- Irregular Heartbeat Detector: A symbol indicates pulse irregularities. If this symbol appears frequently, consult a doctor.
Maintenance Features:
- Cleaning: Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use gasoline, thinners, or similar solvents. Spots on the cuff can be removed with a damp cloth and soapsuds. The cuff must not be washed in a dishwasher, clothes washer, or submerged in water.
- Cuff Handling: Handle the cuff and tubing carefully; avoid twisting, buckling, pulling, or kinking the tube. Keep it away from sharp edges.
- Monitor Integrity: Never open the monitor, as this invalidates the manufacturer's warranty.
- Accuracy Check: According to international standards, the monitor should be checked for accuracy every 2 years.
