Automatic descaling
75
Limescale builds up in the pipework in
the coffee machine through use. To
ensure the machine lasts a long time
and continues to produce good coffee
this limescale needs to be removed on
a regular basis.
With automatic descaling you do not
have to do anything:
The coffee does not have to be set to
the local water hardness range.
The descaling maintenance
programme does not need to be run.
The descaling cartridge should last
approx. one year. You do not need to
buy any descaling agents during this
period.
How does automatic descaling
work?
A Miele descaling cartridge is fitted at
the back of the coffee machine. The
descaling cartridge contains a
descaling agent that is mixed with
water to make a descaling solution.
This descaling solution is used to fill the
pipework in the coffee machine every
day and then works for approx. 4 hours.
Ideally this should be at night. The
machine should remain switched off
whilst this process is running: the
pipework is not rinsed during this
period. The descaling solution is
thoroughly rinsed through the pipework
after the four hour activation period - or
the next morning. The machine can
then be used as normal for making
drinks.
The automatic descaling programme
does not run on days when no drinks
have been made. The automatic
descaling programme will not therefore
run if, for instance, you are on holiday.
