This vacuum cleaner can be used for daily cleaning of carpets, rugs and robust hard flooring. Miele offer a range of other floorheads, brushes and accessories for
other types of flooring and special requirements (see “Optional accessories”)
Please observe the flooring manufacturer’s cleaning and care instructions.
Clean hard flooring which is not susceptible to scratching, as well as flooring with gaps or deep crevices in it with the brush protruding:
Press the foot control.
This type of flooring can be briefly vacuumed with the brush retracted. Carpets and rugs should be vacuumed with the brush retracted:
Press the foot control.
If the suction power of the adjustable floorhead seems too high, reduce the suction until the floorhead is easier to manoeuvre (see “Use – To regulate the
suction power”).
Using the SID Intensive floorhead
(depending on model)
Please observe the flooring manufacturer’s cleaning and care instructions.
The SID floorhead is designed for brief use on carpets, and for vacuum flooring with deep gaps and crevices.
For continuous vacuuming we recommend using the adjustable floorhead.
TimeStrip® change indicator on the exhaust filter
Depending on the model, your vacuum cleaner will be fitted as standard with one of the following exhaust filters (dia. 12).
1. AirClean
2. AirClean Plus 50 (light blue)
3. Active AirClean 50 (black)
4. HEPA AirClean 50 (white)
If your vacuum cleaner is fitted with filter c or d, you need to activate the exhaust filter TimeStrip® change indicator.
Press the release catch for the dust compartment lid and raise the lid as far as it will go (dia. 13).
Remove the indicator strip (dia. 14).
Press the exhaust filter TimeStrip® change indicator (dia. 15).
After approx. 10 – 15 seconds, a thin red line will appear in the left hand side of the display (dia. 16).
Close the dust compartment lid securely, making sure it clicks into position. Take care not to trap the dustbag when doing so.
How the exhaust filter TimeStrip works®
The exhaust filter TimeStrip® change indicator shows the remaining functional life of the exhaust filter. After approx. 50 operating hours the display will be
completely filled with red (dia. 17). 50 operating hours equates to approximately one year of use.
Using the accessories supplied (dia. 18)

Some models are supplied as standard with one of the following accessories which are not illustrated.
AllergoTeQ floorhead
Turbobrush
These are supplied with their own operating instructions.
To open the accessories compartment (dia. 19)
Press the release button on the accessories compartment lid.
The accessories compartment will then open.
Take out the accessory you require.
Press down firmly on the lid to close it.
Adjustable floorhead (dia. 20)
The adjustable floorhead can also be used for vacuuming the stairs.
For safety reasons when vacuuming stairs, it is best to start at the bottom of the stairs and move upwards.
Use
Unwinding the mains cable (dia. 21)
Pull the mains cable out to the required length.
Insert the plug into the socket.
if vacuuming for longer than 30 minutes, the cable must be pulled out all the way. There is a risk of overheating and damage.
To rewind the cable (dia. 22)
Switch off at the wall socket and remove the plug.
Press the rewind foot switch. The cable will rewind automatically. To switch on and off (dia. 23)
Press the On/Off foot control
To regulate the suction power(dia. 24)
The suction power can be regulated to suit the type of flooring being cleaned. Reducing the suction power reduces the amount of effort required to manoeuvre the
floorhead. The vacuum cleaner has symbols on the controls which indicate the type of use the settings are suitable for.
