The washer-dryer is designed to wash and dry laundry. It incorporates a Miele water protection system that safeguards all parts of the appliance from water damage. This system includes an inlet hose, an electronic unit with drainage and overflow protection, and a drain hose. The inlet hose is designed to withstand high pressure and features a protective sleeve with metal braiding for added durability and protection against damage. The electronic unit and casing include a floor tray that collects any leaking water, activating a float switch to shut off water inlet valves and pump out excess water. Overflow protection prevents the washer-dryer from taking in too much water, with a drain pump activating if the water level exceeds a certain limit. The drain hose is protected by a ventilation system to prevent complete emptying.
The washer-dryer is equipped with several user-friendly features. For installation, it has four height-adjustable feet to ensure it stands perfectly level, which is crucial for safe and proper operation, and to prevent increased electricity and water consumption or movement during use. The appliance comes with a water inlet hose (waterproof metal, braided) and a flexible drain hose with a detachable elbow for convenient water connections. An electrical connection is provided via a mains cable with a moulded plug, ready for connection to a suitable earthed socket. The socket should be easily accessible after installation.
The control panel allows users to operate the washer-dryer, while a detergent drawer is provided for adding washing agents. The door provides access to the drum. For maintenance and troubleshooting, there is an access point for drain filters, the drain pump, and an emergency release. An access panel is also available for TwinDos containers, indicating compatibility with Miele's automatic detergent dispensing system.
When moving the appliance, a protruding lid at the rear can be used for holding. Transport clips are provided for securing water inlet and drain hoses during transit. Safety caps for transit bars are also included, which must be removed before operation and reinstalled if the appliance is to be moved again.
The washer-dryer is designed for installation on a concrete floor, which is the most suitable surface to minimize vibration during the spin cycle. If installed on a wooden joist floor, a plywood base (at least 59 x 52 x 3 cm) is recommended, spanning several joists and bolted to them. For optimal stability, installing the washer-dryer in a corner of the room is advised.
For drainage, the suds are drained through a drain pump with a 1 m delivery head. The drain hose can be directed into a sink or basin, connected securely to a plastic drain pipe with a rubber nipple, or connected to a floor drain (gully). For connections to a washbasin, an adapter, spigot nut, and hose clip are provided to ensure a secure fit.
Maintenance aspects are integrated into the design and installation instructions. The transit bars, which secure the drum during transport, must be removed before the first use and kept in a safe place for future moves. The holes left by the transit bars should be covered with the provided caps to prevent injury from sharp edges.
The water inlet system includes a dirt filter in the union nut at the open end of the water inlet, which protects the water intake valve. This filter should not be removed. In case of a damaged mains connection cable, it must only be replaced with a specific cable of the same type, available from Miele Customer Service, and replaced by a qualified technician or the Miele Customer Service Department for safety reasons.
For installation under a worktop, a special "building under kit" is required, which includes a cover plate to replace the washer-dryer's lid for electrical safety. This installation should only be performed by a specialist. Connections for electricity, water, and drainage must remain accessible after the washer-dryer is in its final position.
The water protection system is designed to be maintenance-free, with components like the inlet hose and overflow protection ensuring long-term reliability against water damage. The use of genuine Miele hoses for replacement is recommended, as they are pressure-tested to withstand high pressures. A 1.5-meter metal extension hose is available as an optional accessory for water connections.
The alignment of the washer-dryer is critical for its performance and longevity. Users are instructed to use a spirit level to ensure the appliance is level and to securely tighten all four counter nuts on the feet against the casing to prevent movement during operation.
The document emphasizes the importance of connecting the washer-dryer to a mains water supply that meets drinking water specifications to avoid health risks and damage from contaminated water. The water inlet pressure must be within specified limits (100 kPa to 1000 kPa), and a pressure reducing valve must be installed if the pressure exceeds 1000 kPa. When draining into a washbasin, it is important to ensure free drainage to prevent overflowing or water being sucked back into the machine.
