Hardware. MikroTik warrants all RouterBOARD series equipment for the term of fifteen (15) months from the
shipping date to be free of defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service, except in
case of damage caused by mechanical, electrical or other accidental or intended damages caused by
improper use or due to wind, rain, fire or other acts of nature.
To return failed units to MikroTik, you must perform the following RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization)
procedure. Follow the instructions below to save time, efforts, avoid costs, and improve the speed of the
RMA process.
1.If you have purchased your product from a MikroTik Reseller, please contact the Reseller company
regarding all warranty and repair issues, the following instructions apply ONLY if you purchased your
equipment directly from MikroTik in Latvia.
2. We do not offer repairs for products that are not covered by warranty. Exceptions can be made for
RB1000 and RB1100.
3. Out-of-warranty devices and devices not covered by warranty sent to Mikrotikls will be returned to the
sender at sender's cost.

The RouterBOARD SXT 5HnD is a compact, integrated wireless device designed for outdoor use, featuring a built-in 5GHz 802.11a/n wireless device based on the AR9280 Atheros chipset. It does not support turbo mode and comes with a pre-assembled, ready-to-use design. The device includes a dual-polarization 2x2 MIMO antenna, eliminating the need for external antenna connectors.

Function Description:

The SXT 5HnD functions as a wireless access point or client device, capable of operating in the 5GHz frequency band. It supports 802.11a/n wireless standards, offering data rates from 6 Mbit/s to 54 Mbit/s for 802.11a and MCS0/8 to MCS7/15 for 802.11n, with varying TX Power and RX Sensitivity levels. The device is powered via passive Power over Ethernet (PoE) through its LAN1 port, accepting a wide voltage input range of 8 to 30V DC. It is compatible with non-standard PoE injectors and is supplied with a 24V PSU and a PoE injector. The device runs MikroTik RouterOS, providing extensive network configuration and management capabilities.

Usage Features:

• First Use: The device is pre-assembled. To start, connect the supplied PSU to a power socket, then to the PoE injector. Connect one end of the injector to a switch or other device, and the other end to the SXT device via an Ethernet cable. Configuration is done via SSH or Winbox, with the wireless interface disabled by default and requiring manual enablement and configuration.
• Grounding: For optimal protection, it is recommended to use an FTP (foil screened twisted pair) cable, connecting one end to the SXT and the other to the building's grounding installation. A dedicated grounding wire can also be connected to the provided grounding connection behind the SXT case door.
• Mounting: The SXT is designed for pole mounting using a hose clamp, which guides through a bracket on the bottom of the case. The device must be mounted with the door pointing downwards to prevent moisture ingress, utilizing small holes at the bottom for ventilation and condensate exit. A second cable opening is available for horizontal mounting or for routing grounding/USB cables, which needs to be opened with a drill or knife.
• LED Indicators: The Power LED indicates power status. The User LED is programmable and by default lights up during bootloader execution, then turns off when the kernel runs. Five wireless LEDs (LD1602-LD1606) indicate wireless signal strength, with LD1602 on for client connection (>= -89dBm) and subsequent LEDs lighting up as signal strength improves (e.g., LD1606 for >= -61dBm). This function can be disabled via software.
• USB Port Functionality: The USB 2.0 port supports RouterOS USB power reset, allowing connected devices like 3G modems to be rebooted. Note that during a USB power reset, wireless signals are transmitted with reduced power, potentially causing minor interruptions.
• Booting Options: The RouterBOOT loader can boot from the onboard NAND module or from an Ethernet network (PXE/EtherBoot protocol). Network boot requires an ELF kernel image on a TFTP server and a BOOTP/DHCP server for IP address and image name.
• Single Chain Operation: For single chain operation in V-pol, users can either leave settings as default (it will connect to Vpol devices if no chains are disabled in RouterOS), turn the antenna 90 degrees and use Chain0, or disable Chain0-TX in RouterOS.

Maintenance Features:

• Reset Button (S1400): This button offers three functions based on release timing after power application:
  • 0-5 seconds: Loads backup bootloader.
  • 5-10 seconds (User LED starts flashing): Resets RouterOS configuration.
  • 10+ seconds (User LED stops flashing): Starts Etherboot (Netinstall) mode.
• Reset Jumper Hole (RESET): Located below S1400, short-circuiting this metallic hole with a screwdriver during boot will clear the RouterOS configuration to defaults.
• Boot Loader Configuration: Bootloader parameters can be configured through the RouterOS "/system routerboard" menu, as the device lacks a serial port.
• Boot Loader Upgrading: The boot loader can be upgraded via MikroTik RouterOS. FWF files can be uploaded to the RouterOS files menu, and the "/system routerboard upgrade" command can be executed. RouterOS releases typically include new bootloader files in the routerboard.npk package.
• Operating System Support: The device is tested with MikroTik RouterOS (starting from v4.16). Downgrading to older RouterOS versions may lead to malfunction and license issues.
• FCC Compliance: The device complies with Part 15 of FCC Rules. Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the manufacturer could void the user's authority to operate the equipment. A minimum distance of 20 cm to occupational users and 45 cm to the general public must be maintained for FCC radiation exposure limits.
