Overview

The Mima Moon high chair is a versatile seating solution designed to adapt to a child's growth, functioning as a newborn lounger, high chair, and junior chair. It is developed with careful consideration for safety and comfort, and users are encouraged to read the instructions thoroughly to ensure safe usage and to understand all its features.

Function Description:

The Mima Moon high chair serves three primary functions:

  • Newborn Lounger (0-6 months): In this mode, the seat is used in a completely reclined position to provide a comfortable and secure space for infants. For optimal safety and head protection, the use of a baby headrest (sold separately) is recommended.
  • High Chair (6 months to 3 years, max 15 kg): Once a child can sit up unaided, the Moon transitions into a high chair. This mode allows the child to sit at table height, often with a tray for feeding or play. The seat recline position can be adjusted, and a safety harness ensures the child is securely seated.
  • Junior Chair (3 years and over, max 45 kg): For older children, the high chair seat can be removed, and specially designed cushions (sold separately) can be added to convert it into a junior chair. This mode is designed for children who no longer require the full support of a high chair but still benefit from a dedicated seating solution.

Usage Features:

  • Assembly: The initial setup involves assembling the base, inserting the pneumatic cylinder, attaching the cylinder cover, and then securing the seat frame. The safety bar is installed on the high chair seat by fastening it on the side and then with screws underneath.
  • Seat Cover and Safety Harness Assembly: The seat cover is placed on the high chair. The shoulder straps of the safety harness can be positioned at two different heights to best fit the child's shoulders, clicking into place through the corresponding slots.
  • High Chair Positioning: The high chair seat is repositioned by ensuring a pin in the top part goes into the slot of the junior seat and pressing downwards until it clicks.
  • Tray Positioning: The tray aligns with the safety bar via slots underneath and clicks into place when pressed down in the center.
  • Seat Height Adjustment: The seat height can be adjusted by pressing a button on the base with a foot. The seat automatically rises. To lower it, the button is pressed with a foot while simultaneously pushing the seat downwards, ideally on the upper middle part.
  • Seat Recline Position Adjustment: A lever located under the seat allows for adjustment of the recline position. Lifting the lever, adjusting the seat, and then lowering the lever secures the seat in the desired position.
  • Tray Removal: The tray can be removed by pulling the middle part of its rim from underneath to release it from the clip.
  • Harness Fastening and Unfastening: To fasten, strap buckles are inserted into slots until they click, and strap ends are pulled to adjust for a snug fit. To unfasten, a button in the middle of the buckle is pressed.
  • Junior Chair Conversion: To convert to a junior chair, the high chair seat is removed by pressing a button at the bottom. The seat angle can be adjusted to an almost upright sitting position, which is more comfortable with cushions. Junior chair cushions (largest on the base, smaller at the back) are then placed on the seat.
  • Accessories: Mima frequently updates accessories for the Moon, including an adjustable footrest, junior chair cushions, and a baby headrest. These can be found on the Mima website or through retailers.

Maintenance Features:

  • General Care: To maintain the high chair in perfect condition, it is advised to keep it clean and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, which can cause the plastic to yellow over time. Regular checks of locking devices and other parts for good condition are recommended. If any parts are bent, broken, or worn, they should be replaced, and the chair should not be used until then.
  • Frame and Seat Cleaning: For thorough cleaning, the seat cover and safety harness should be removed. The frame and its parts, including the tray, can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild cleaning agent. Abrasive detergents or whitening products should not be used. The tray is not dishwasher safe.
  • Seat Cover Cleaning: The seat cover can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent. For larger stains, the cover can be removed (refer to fig. 6) and hand-washed with a small amount of neutral detergent applied directly to the stain, gently rubbed with a sponge, rinsed well, and left to dry before reattaching.
  • Harness Cleaning: The harness can be hand-washed. Remember to remove the shoulder pads before washing and reattach them once dried.
  • Cleaning Guidelines: When cleaning, use a damp cloth, do not use bleach, do not dry in a clothing dryer, do not iron, and do not dry clean.

Important Safety Notes:

  • Always read instructions carefully before use.
  • Ensure the safety harness/restraining system is properly put on and fits snugly.
  • The tray is not designed to hold the child in the chair.
  • Only use the chair on flat and stable surfaces.
  • Never leave a child unattended in the chair.
  • Do not move the high chair with a child in it.
  • Do not use the high chair if it is broken or has missing parts.
  • Do not use the junior chair for children younger than 3 years.
  • The high chair is not designed for long periods of sleep.
  • Only use accessories or replacement parts sold by Mima.
  • Ensure all components are correctly fitted and adjusted.
  • Be aware of the risk of open fire and other strong heat sources near the chair.
  • Position the high chair away from solid structures, benches, furniture, walls, hot surfaces, liquids, window covering cords, and electrical cords to prevent injuries and access to dangerous items.
  • The high chair should only be used in an upright position when the child can reliably and consistently sit upright unaided.
