Overview

The Mockingbird High Chair is a versatile piece of baby furniture designed to support a child from infancy through toddlerhood, and even into early childhood as a standalone chair. It emphasizes safety, adjustability, and ease of use, making it a practical choice for parents.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Mockingbird High Chair is to provide a safe and comfortable seating solution for infants and toddlers during meal times. It allows children to sit at table height with their family, fostering social development and making feeding easier. Beyond its high chair function, it converts into a child chair, extending its utility as the child grows. This adaptability means it can be used for various activities, not just meals, and can accommodate a child for several years. The design focuses on stability and security, ensuring the child is properly supported and restrained.

Usage Features:

Assembly and Setup:

The manual provides clear, step-by-step instructions for assembling the high chair. It includes all necessary hardware and tools, such as Frame Bolts, Capsule Bolts, and a Hex Key. The assembly process starts with installing the Wooden Crossbar, followed by the Metal Crossbar and the Adjustable Baby Footrest onto one Frame Leg. A "Pro Tip" suggests laying down a blanket to prevent scratching the Frame Legs during assembly. The Adjustable Baby Footrest has four positions, allowing parents to customize the seat height for their child. An "Important!" note highlights that the thumb screws for the footrest contain a spring and must be fully tightened on both sides to prevent them from popping out. After installing the Child Step, the second Frame Leg is attached, sandwiching the crossbars, baby footrest, and child step. The final step in frame assembly involves tightening all six Frame Bolts using the Hex Key until completely snug, with no gaps between parts. An "Important!" reminder advises retightening all Frame Bolts 2-3 weeks after initial assembly and then every other month or if any wobble is detected.

The next stage involves assembling the Child Chair. This includes sliding the Child Backrest onto the assembled Frame Legs, aligning the openings on the bottom of the backrest with the tops of the frame legs. Capsules are then inserted into holes on each side of the Child Backrest, secured with Capsule Bolts tightened by the Hex Key. Finally, Capsule Caps are inserted into the Capsules, clicking securely into place. A "Pro Tip" mentions that these caps can be removed with a flat head screwdriver for disassembly.

Attaching the Baby Seat is straightforward: it aligns over the Capsules and slides onto the Backrest, clicking into place on both sides. Parents should confirm it's fully clipped and locked by pulling up on each side. A "Pro Tip" directs users to page 20 for information on converting to the Child Chair.

The Adjustable Tray is the last major component to attach. It slides onto the Baby Seat, aligning its side openings with the armrests and its bottom track with the Belly Bar, clicking into place. The tray has three adjustable positions, indicated by markers on the armrests, allowing for depth adjustment to fit the child. Buttons on the bottom of the tray are used to adjust positions or remove the tray. After adjustment, pulling the tray forward confirms it's securely clicked in.

Loading and Unloading Your Child:

For loading, the harness should be unbuckled, and the child's legs aligned with the leg openings of the Baby Seat. The child is then gently lowered into the High Chair, ensuring they are comfortably seated with their back supported. A "Pro Tip" suggests hooking the harness straps on the Strap Hooks at the back of the Baby Seat for easier loading.

Securing the child involves the 5-point safety harness. Straps are adjusted by pulling on the adjustment points at the waist, ensuring they rest comfortably on the child's shoulders without slipping off. A removable Strap Holder can be used to prevent strap slippage. The straps should be snug but not too tight, allowing the child to move their arms comfortably. Strap clips fasten into the Quick Release Buckle with an audible click, and a gentle tug confirms secure fastening.

Unloading is simplified by pressing the button on the Quick Release Buckle to quickly release the straps, allowing the child to be gently lifted out.

Adjusting the High Chair:

The Baby Footrest has four adjustable positions. To adjust, unscrew the thumb screws on both sides until they pop out, then slide the footrest up or down the track using the markers as a guide. Once at the desired height, push the thumb screws back in and tighten until snug, ensuring no gap. When adjusting to the highest position, the footrest will lock into place. A "Pro Tip" advises adjusting both footrest height and tray depth for a comfortable fit, looking for the child to sit upright, with feet flat on the footrest (knees at 90 degrees), and able to comfortably reach the tray.

The Tray has three positions for adjusting seat depth. Pressing buttons on the bottom sides allows the tray to slide in or out. An audible click confirms it's in position. Markers on the armrests help ensure both sides are in the same position.

Using the Tray Liner:

The Tray Liner comes attached to the tray and can be removed with one hand by pulling outward on tabs on either side. To reattach, press it onto the tray until it clicks into place. A "Pro Tip" highlights the liner's convenience for easy mealtime cleanups and its dishwasher-safe nature.

A Seat at the Table (High Chair Mode and Child Chair Mode):

In High Chair Mode, the tray and tray liner are removed, and the high chair is positioned next to the dining table, with the child secured in the 5-point harness.

For Child Chair Mode, the high chair is pulled right up to the table. A "Pro Tip" suggests using the included Mockingbird Placemat for easy cleanups.

Converting to the Child Chair:

To convert, locate the tabs under the Baby Seat on either side, press them inward, and push up to remove the Baby Seat from the frame. The Adjustable Baby Footrest is then adjusted to its highest position, which becomes the seat for the Child Chair. It must be secured in this highest position and lock into place. A "Pro Tip" notes that conversion is suitable when a child can confidently climb in and out (around 3 years old, but varies) and that the Child Chair supports a maximum weight of 150 lbs.

Maintenance Features:

Cleaning:

Cleaning the High Chair surfaces and Tray involves wiping them down with a wet sponge and mild dish soap. The tray should not be submerged underwater.

The silicone Harness Straps allow for easy wipe-downs and can also be removed and cleaned in the dishwasher (top rack only).

The one-hand removable Tray Liner and Placemat are dishwasher safe (top rack only).
