79-00-00 - GENERAL
The oil system is a wet sump, pressure type system.
The engine sump has an 8 quart (U.S.) capacity. Ser-
vicing of the oil quantity is provided through an access
door located on top of engine cowling.
Aircraft are delivered with proper non- detergent, min-
eral oil (MIL-C-6529 Type II). This oil should be
changed at 25 hours or when oil consumption has sta-
bilized. The replacement oil should conform to Contin-
ental Motors Specification MHS24. Routine oil change
interval is 50 hours, however if operating in a dusty
environment the interval should be more often.
-NOTE-
Continental Motors Recommends a new, reman-
ufactured or newly overhauled engine should
have oil and filter changed at 25 hours of opera-
tion after changing to detergent oil, then begin 50
hour oil change interval.
-NOTE-
Refer to Section 5-20-07 or Continental Motors
Maintenance & Overhaul Manual M-18 or Contin-
ental Motors Installation and Operation Manual
OI-18 for approved oil products.
