Why won't my Mosa Welding System motor start?

  If the motor of your Mosa Welding System doesn't start or stops immediately after starting, check the following: * Ensure the engine switch is in the ON position. * Verify there's sufficient oil in the motor and refill if needed. * Inspect the motor stopping device (oil-alert) and replace if faulty. * Make sure there's fuel in the tank and the fuel tap is open. * Clean or replace the spark plug if it's dirty or faulty. * If the motor is cold, hold down the CHOKE button longer after start-up.

  There are several reasons why the motor of your Mosa Welding System might not start or stops shortly after starting: * The engine switch may be in the OFF position. Ensure it is switched to ON. * There might be insufficient oil in the motor. Refill or top off the oil. * The motor stopping device (oil alert) could be faulty. Consider replacing it. * The fuel tank may be empty, or the fuel tap is closed. Refill the tank and open the fuel tap. * The spark plug may be dirty or faulty. Clean, check, and replace it if necessary. * If the motor is cold, hold down the CHOKE button for a longer period after start-up.

  If your Mosa Welding System shows no current under no-load conditions in weld mode, check the following: * The chopper welding bridge may be broken. Use a multimeter to test that there are 3 Kohms between pins 1-2; if NOT replace the bridge. * There might be a faulty circuit, which would require replacement. * The alternator could be faulty. Disconnect the welding and auxiliary power cables. Use a voltmeter to check that there is 48 Vac at the outputs in weld and approximately 170 Vac in the 230 V version and 90 Vac in the 110 V version. Carry out the check when the engine idles (disconnect one of the two wires to the solenoid).

  Irregular or inconsistent welding current in your Mosa Welding System may be due to: * Alternator windings not insulated from earth. Disconnect all the outputs and check the insulation of the alternator. * Welding chopper bridge not insulated from earth. Disconnect the 3 welding cables and check that the bridge is insulated from the earth. * Power cables not insulated from earth. Check that the cables inside the aluminium casting are properly insulated. * Faulty circuit that needs to be replaced.
