Performing Vacuum Leak Test
This test is performed to determine if the radio is properly sealed.
Prerequisites:
• Remove the antenna, side escutcheon, and battery cover from the radio.
• Remove the ventilation label and GORE membrane.
• Cover the vent hole with the leak test spacer, ensuring no air leak through the spacer seal.
• Reassemble the battery cover.
Procedure:
1 Attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum leak tester.
2 To verify that the leak tester is functioning, check the leak tester and the hose for leaks by
blocking off the open end of the hose and operating the leak tester a few times.
3 Ensure that the difference between the maximum and minimum fluctuation readings of the
gauge pointer remains within 0.05 inHg.
NOTICE: The actual reading of the gauge pointer at this point is not important.
