Performing Vacuum Leak Test
This test is performed to determine if the radio is properly sealed.
Prerequisites:
Remove the antenna, side escutcheon, and battery cover from the radio.
Remove the ventilation label and GORE membrane.
Cover the vent hole with the leak test spacer, ensuring no air leak through the spacer seal.
Reassemble the battery cover.
Procedure:
1 Attach the vacuum hose to the vacuum leak tester.
2 To verify that the leak tester is functioning, check the leak tester and the hose for leaks by
blocking off the open end of the hose and operating the leak tester a few times.
3 Ensure that the difference between the maximum and minimum fluctuation readings of the
gauge pointer remains within 0.05 inHg.
NOTICE: The actual reading of the gauge pointer at this point is not important.
