What to do if my Motorola Set-top box will not power on?
    • M
      Matthew CarlsonAug 15, 2025
If your Motorola DCX set-top box doesn't power on, it might be undergoing a software update; wait a few minutes and try again. Ensure the AC power cord is properly connected to both the set-top box and the AC outlet. Try unplugging the set-top box, plugging it back in, and pressing the power button. If it's connected to a switched outlet, make sure that unit is powered on. Use an unswitched outlet if possible. Also, check the power button on the remote and replace the remote batteries if needed.

Why is my Motorola DCX3200 Set-top boxes remote control not working?
    • J
      Jamie DuncanAug 18, 2025
If your Motorola DCX set-top box remote isn't working, first ensure it's in 'Cable' mode. Check for obstructions between the remote and the set-top box, and aim directly at the front panel, not the TV or VCR. Make sure you're not too far to the side and that the angle isn't too wide. Press keys firmly and deliberately, one at a time. Finally, check and replace the batteries if necessary.

How to fix no audio when viewing cable channels on my Motorola Set-top boxes?
    • M
      Mr. Dustin KennedyAug 25, 2025
If you're not getting any audio from your Motorola DCX set-top box when viewing cable channels, first verify that the mute button on the set-top box or remote hasn't been pressed. If the set-top box is connected to the TV, check the TV's mute button as well. If connected to a home theater receiver, ensure it's set to the correct input and that the receiver's mute button hasn't been pressed. Also, make sure you're using the correct audio cables and that they are firmly connected between the set-top box and your playback device (TV, receiver, DVD player, etc.).

Why is there no audio from the center or surround speakers when using my Motorola Set-top box?
    • C
      Christopher RojasAug 28, 2025
If you're not getting audio from the center and/or surround speakers of your home theater receiver connected to the Motorola DCX set-top box, verify that the S/PDIF (coaxial or optical) audio cable is firmly connected to both the set-top box and the receiver. Ensure your home theater receiver is set to a surround sound audio mode like Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic II®, Dolby Pro Logic®, or Dolby Digital Plus®. Also, confirm that the receiver is correctly configured to work with all connected speakers. Keep in mind that not all Dolby Digital® programs feature full 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound.

Why are there black bars to the right and left of the picture on my Motorola DCX3200 Set-top boxes?
    • T
      Thomas BrooksSep 3, 2025
Black bars on the sides of the picture (pillar-boxing) on your Motorola DCX set-top box usually occur when a widescreen TV displays 4:3 content, unless the TV is set to stretch the image. You can also try turning on the 4:3 OVERRIDE feature in the User Settings menu. If you have a widescreen TV connected to the DCX3200, verify that the TV TYPE is set to 16:9 in the User Settings menu. Many HD programs are also broadcast in pillar-box format.

How do I remove black bars above and below the picture on my Motorola DCX3200?
    • A
      Andre HughesSep 6, 2025
Black bars above and below the picture (letterboxing) on your Motorola DCX set-top box typically appear on 4:3 HDTVs when displaying HD programs due to the screen shape. Try turning on the 4:3 OVERRIDE feature in the User Settings menu, or set the TV TYPE to 4:3 Pan-Scan. Some SD programs are also broadcast in letterbox format. Some widescreen TVs may offer a zoom feature to remove these bars.

Why are there black bars on all four sides of the picture with my Motorola Set-top boxes?
    • W
      William FrancoSep 9, 2025
Black bars on all four sides of the picture on your Motorola DCX set-top box can occur on a 4:3 TV if the 4:3 OVERRIDE setting is OFF. Set 4:3 OVERRIDE to 480i or 480p to fill the screen, depending on the TV's capabilities. On a 16:9 TV, this can happen if the SD broadcast is in letterbox format; check during commercials or for network logos below the active video. Broadcasters might also include black bars on either side of a widescreen broadcast, creating a 'hybrid' aspect ratio. While the DCX3200 cannot correct this, you may be able to minimize the border using the zoom feature on your TV.

Why don't graphics or program guides appear on the TV screen with my Motorola Set-top boxes?
    • L
      lopezdanielleSep 12, 2025
If you're using an IEEE-1394 connection with your Motorola DCX set-top box, on-screen graphics, including closed captions and program guides, will not be displayed by the set-top box. However, on-screen graphics and captions may still be overlaid by your TV, if enabled. Alternatively, use HDMI or component video instead.

      williamsrobertNov 20, 2025
If there's no video on your TV screen from the Motorola DCX set-top box, ensure the TV is on and set to the correct input. Verify the set-top box is powered on and tuned to an authorized channel. Check all video cables are firmly connected between the set-top box and the TV, and the coaxial cable is connected to the set-top box and wall. If connected through a home theater unit, ensure it is powered on and set to the correct input. For HDMI connections, try powering off both the TV and set-top box, waiting a second, and then powering them back on. Note that not all HDTVs support every output format, so you may need to adjust the HDMI/YPbPr OUTPUT setting by pressing the Menu button on the remote control when the DCX set-top is off and cycling through the options using the arrow keys until ...
