Overview

This document is a troubleshooting manual for full-motion wall mounts manufactured by Mounting Dream. It covers a range of models including MD2198, MD2285-XL, MD2295, MD2295-M, MD2296, MD2296-24, MD2296-M, MD2298, MD2298-XL, MD2377, MD2377-KT, MD2378, MD2379, MD2380, MD2380-24, MD2380-24K, MD2501, MD2617, MD2618, and MD2658, as well as other mounts of similar design. The primary function of this manual is to provide solutions to common installation and operational issues that users might encounter with these full-motion wall mounts.

The manual addresses several specific problems and offers step-by-step solutions for each.

Usage Features and Troubleshooting:

Cables blocked by mount/brackets:

  • Solution 1: If cables are blocked, users should add spacers between the bracket and the TV's back. It is recommended to plug in the cables first before hanging the TV. This creates additional space to prevent cable compression or damage.
  • Solution 2: If the VESA mounting pattern on the TV is smaller than the mount's maximum line, the bracket should be moved away from the cables. This ensures that the cables have adequate clearance and are not pinched by the bracket.
  • Solution 3: If the above solutions do not resolve the issue, users are advised to contact customer support. When contacting support, it is crucial to provide detailed information, including pictures of the TV's back, the VESA mounting pattern, and the TV's weight, to help identify the best solution.

TV keeps tilting:

  • Solution 1 (for MD2296, MD2296-24, MD2295, MD2295-M): For these specific models, users need to ensure the handle operation is correct. The screw opposite to the handle should be fastened securely. This action helps to stabilize the TV and prevent unwanted tilting.
  • Solution 1 (for MD2377, MD2377-KT, MD2378, MD2379, MD2380, MD2380-24): For these models, the solution involves fastening two bolts in the rear plate using an Allen key. This secures the TV more firmly to the mount, preventing tilting.
  • Solution 2: If the TV continues to tilt after attempting Solution 1, users should contact customer support for further assistance.

Bracket sticks out of TV:

  • Solution: To address this, users should move the brackets downward and utilize the upper bolt holes to attach the TV. This adjustment can help to recess the brackets, making them less visible and ensuring a cleaner installation.

TV not level or out of balance:

  • Solution 1: The first step is to check if the wall plate is level using the bubble level provided with the mount. If the wall plate is not level, it must be adjusted to achieve a level position. A level wall plate is fundamental for a balanced TV installation.
  • Solution 2 (for MD2198, MD2285-LA, MD2285-LB, MD2285-XL, MD2298): If the TV plate itself is not level, it needs adjustment. For these models, users should use the provided Allen key to loosen two leveling bolts located in the rear TV plate. While holding the TV to adjust it to a level position (within ±3°), the leveling bolts should then be fastened tightly.
  • Solution 2 (for MD2377, MD2377-KT, MD2378, MD2379, MD2380, MD2380-24, MD2501, MD2618): For these models, the process is similar but involves four leveling bolts. Users should use the provided Allen key to loosen these four leveling bolts in the rear TV plate by a maximum of two turns. The TV should then be adjusted to a level position (within ±3°), and the bolts fastened tightly.
  • Solution 3: If the TV remains unlevel, users can try using bolt holes at the same level and pulling the bracket upward to reduce the gap between the hole and the bolt. Finally, fasten them securely. This method helps to eliminate any play that might contribute to an unlevel TV.
  • Solution 4: If none of the above solutions work, users are advised to contact customer support.

Arm is stiff to move:

  • Solution 1: To resolve a stiff arm, users should apply lubricant to the arm's joint. This will reduce friction and allow for smoother movement of the full-motion arm.

Lag bolt is difficult to screw into stud:

  • Solution: If a lag bolt is damaged, customers should contact customer service for a replacement. When installing lag bolts, it is crucial to follow the installation instructions carefully: * Pre-drill pilot holes: Ensure that pilot holes are pre-drilled to the required length. This prevents wood splitting and makes it easier to drive the lag bolt. * Use appropriate tools: Use an open wrench or a socket wrench to screw in the lag bolt. Electronic tools should be avoided as they can damage the lag bolt due to excessive torque or improper application.

Bolts longer than bolt hole on TV:

  • Solution 1: If the bolts are too long, users should add spacers and/or steel washers to accommodate the bolt length. These components create additional space, ensuring the bolt does not bottom out in the TV's mounting hole.
  • Solution 2: If the bolts are still too long after applying Solution 1, users should add 2.5mm plastic washers (provided in the shipping box) in addition to the spacers and steel washers.
  • Solution 3: If both solutions fail, users are advised to visit a local hardware store to purchase bolts and/or washers that are specifically sized to fit the TV's mounting holes.

General Information:

  • Disclaimer: The mount shown in the manual is indicative only. In case of any inconsistency between the image and the actual product received, the actual product will govern.

Pictures are highly recommended as they can significantly aid in diagnosing the problem.
