SELECTION OF FILTER BASKET AND FILLING WITH COFFEE
1. Select the appropriate filter basket according to the following criterion:
- small coffee basket filter (13a) – for a single coffee
-
large coffee filter basket (13b) – for two single coffees (ESPRESSO) or one double coffee
(CAPUCCINO, LATTE).
2. Place the selected filter basket (13) in the portafilter (10).
3. Fill the selected filter basket with fresh, finely ground coffee (Fig. 1a).
4. Using the kneader (25), press the coffee and clean the excess coffee from the rim to ensure a
proper fit (Fig.2b and 2c).
CAUTION! Coffee must not exceed the “MAX” indicator inside the filter basket. For strongly pressed coffee, it
corresponds to the weight of about 10g of coffee for the small filter and 20g for the large filter.
ATTACHING/DETACHING THE PORTAFILTER IN THE ESPRESSO MACHINE
1. Place the portafilter (10) with the filter basket (13) inside the portafilter mounting space (5) so
that the portafilter handle (12) aligns with the open lock symbol on the frontal panel of the
espresso machine (Fig. 2).
2. Gently turn the portafilter handle
(12) to the right so that it aligns
with the closed lock symbol on the
frontal panel of the espresso ma-
chine.
3. Detaching the portafilter and re-
moving the filter basket is done
in the reverse order, i.e., gently
turn the portafilter handle (12) to
the left, remove the portafilter
(10) from the portafilter mounting
space (5) and remove the filter basket by turning to release it.
CAUTION! Always hold the portafilter by the handle (12). The handle contains a lever (11) to lock the filter basket
while shaking it during cleaning. The handle may be hot. Take extreme care.
