Question and Answer IconNeed help?

Do you have a question about the MS ENERGY R-10 and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

This document is an instruction manual for the MS Energy e-scooter r10. It provides detailed information on its function, technical specifications, usage, and maintenance.

The MS Energy e-scooter r10 is a personal transport vehicle designed for single-person use. It is manufactured to high standards, incorporating innovative technology for maximum user comfort. The scooter is intended for adult use, with riders needing to be over 120cm tall and weigh more than 20kg, with a maximum load capacity of 120kg. It is not designed for professional use, such as delivery services.

Important Safety Instructions:

Before using the e-scooter, it is crucial to read and fully understand the manual. Do not lend the scooter to inexperienced individuals. Practice riding in a traffic-free area at gear level 1 before moving to bicycle lanes. Always wear a helmet, shoes, and safety gear (knee and elbow pads) to prevent injuries. Avoid riding at high speeds, on uneven terrain, or slopes, and never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Adhere to local traffic laws and prioritize pedestrians. Be aware of the risk of losing control, collision, or falling.

The manual highlights several warnings with symbols:

  • A lightning bolt symbol within an equilateral triangle warns of dangerous, uninsulated voltage that could cause electric shock.
  • An exclamation mark within an equilateral triangle indicates important operating and maintenance instructions.
  • A "DO NOT OPEN" warning for the electric charger and scooter parts, emphasizing that only qualified technicians should perform repairs on electrical components.
  • A symbol indicating the main plug is used to disconnect the battery charger from the power supply.
  • A symbol warning against incorrect battery replacement, which can lead to hazards.
  • A symbol advising against exposing batteries and chargers to excessive heat, such as direct sunlight or fire.

Usage Features:

The e-scooter features a safe start design, meaning the motor only activates when the vehicle speed is above 0 to prevent accidental acceleration. To start, place one foot on the standing board, push off the ground like a traditional kick scooter, and then gradually use the acceleration handle once the scooter is in motion.

Braking:

The e-scooter is equipped with a rear electric brake (motor brake with regenerative braking) and front and rear disc brakes. Both brake handles should be used simultaneously for effective braking. Applying greater pressure increases braking force. Be cautious of hard braking, which can cause wheel slippage, loss of balance, and falls, potentially damaging the tires.

Riding Security:

  • Avoid riding in the rain or through water deeper than 2cm.
  • When encountering obstacles like speed bumps, potholes, or uneven pavement, adjust speed or stop completely. Maintain a low speed (5-10 km/h) on rough roads.
  • Do not accelerate excessively downhill.
  • Be careful of hitting your head on door frames, elevator frames, or other obstacles.
  • Do not press the accelerator while pushing the e-scooter.
  • Avoid hitting barriers or curbs, as such damage is not covered by the warranty.
  • Do not hang heavy items on the handlebar.
  • Do not ride with only one foot on the pedal or floor.
  • Avoid sudden movements, sharp turns, or riding in crowded areas.
  • Do not carry other people or children.
  • Do not ride hands-free or over obstacles/stairs.

Charging:

Before first use, fully charge the battery. Open the rubber cap, insert the charging plug into the scooter's port, then connect the charger to a power socket. The charger's LED will be red during charging and turn green when the battery is full. Disconnect the charger from the power socket first, then from the scooter. Always close the rubber cap on the charging port to prevent water or dust ingress, which could cause short circuits or malfunctions. Charging time is affected by ambient temperature; higher temperatures lead to longer charging times. Never leave the scooter charging unattended.

Display and Controls:

The display shows the current speed. There are three speed modes:

  • Gear 1: Max speed 15km/h
  • Gear 2: Max speed 25km/h
  • Gear 3: Max speed 30km/h The battery indicator shows the remaining charge with ten electric lights. When 8-10 lights are on, the charge is 80-100%; 6-8 lights, 50-80%; 4-6 lights, 30-50%; 2-4 lights, 10-30%. If only 1-2 lights are on (below 10%), the scooter will coast to a stop, and recharging is required. To power on, short press the power switch. To power off, long press the switch for 2 seconds. After powering on, short press the MODE button to cycle through speed modes. Pressing the switch twice in a row turns the front LED light and rear taillight on/off.

Maintenance Features:

  • Tires and other parts: The e-scooter uses elastic rubber tires. Worn or punctured tires should be replaced promptly by an official distributor or service. Vibrations can loosen screws and parts; it is recommended to check all moving parts, wheels, and bolts every 250km or monthly to ensure they are tightened. Regular periodic service (once a year or every 3000km) is recommended.
  • Battery: The lithium-polymer battery has an average lifespan of 400 charging cycles (0-100% capacity). With normal use and maintenance, it can reach over 600 cycles with minimal capacity decrease. If the scooter is unused for several months, charge the battery to 100% before storage and turn it on for a few minutes each month, then recharge to 100%. Do not drop the battery or expose it to strong impacts, fire, or heat sources, as this can cause overheating, fire, or explosion. Do not dismantle or modify the battery.
  • Disc Brakes: If the brake feels too tight or loose, adjust it by loosening the screw on the rotary knob, turning the knob slightly, and then re-tightening the screw.
  • Handlebar Shake: If the stem tube feels loose or shakes during riding, check the front fork and folding mechanism and tighten any loose parts.

Troubleshooting:

The manual includes a troubleshooting section with common symptoms (e.g., failed speed change, motor not working, inadequate mileage, charger not charging) and possible solutions (e.g., charge battery, replace parts, inflate tires, check wiring). If issues persist, contact manufacturer customer care.

Disposal Information:

  • Waste Electrical & Electronic Equipment (WEEE): Products marked with the WEEE symbol should not be disposed of with general household waste. They must be taken to designated collection points for proper treatment, recovery, and recycling.
  • Waste Batteries: Used batteries should not be disposed of with household waste. They must be taken to special collection points found in retail shops.

EU Declaration of Conformity:

M SAN Grupa d.o.o. declares that the Electrical Scooter complies with Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, RED Directive 2014/53/EU, and RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU. The full text of the EU declaration of conformity is available on www.msan.hr/dokumentacijaartikala.
